The baker behind this amazing baking method shared her discovery on the Kmart Home Decor & Hacks Australia Facebook page, and her creativity blew us away.

She revealed that she used the sushi maker as a 'cookie dough extruder' to make perfectly sized and round dough logs for her ANZAC biscuits. No more unevenly shaped cookies, folks!

And that's not all - she even shared some other fantastic ways to use the sushi maker in the kitchen. Need to freeze your dough for later? The sushi maker can help you create perfectly sized logs for freezing. Want to create a space in your dough for fillings? Look no further than the sushi maker.

And, if you're feeling extra adventurous, you can even use it to make the perfect sausage roll fillings. The possibilities are endless!

Are you ready to try out this method for yourself? Here's how the brilliant baker pulled it off:

First, follow the sushi-making method, but instead of rice and fillings, pack each side with cookie dough. Fill up both sides, then place the pusher piece in the slot and close the sushi maker with the hinge.

Next, pack more dough into the open end of the sushi maker. Once it's full, twist the extruder piece until you can push the rest of the dough through. Voila! You'll have a perfectly shaped cookie dough log that comes out easily in one piece.

It's that simple! With this method, you'll be able to create evenly sized and perfectly shaped cookie dough logs every time without the hassle of hand-shaping them yourself.

It's no surprise that the baking method quickly gained a following of enthusiastic fans! Kmart lovers were left in awe of this ingenious idea and took to social media to share their admiration.

'Not all heroes wear capes,' one person said, acknowledging the brilliance of the baker's tip. Another was quick to chime in, calling the baker a genius, and a third expressed their amazement, exclaiming, 'This is amazing!'

Refined sugar-free chocolate chip cookies

Ingredients:
  • 125g unsalted butter, melted
  • 60ml (1/4 cup) light agave nectar (you can also use honey or maple syrup!)
  • One egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 225g (1 1/2 cups) plain flour
  • 1 tsp cornflour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 75g sugar-free chocolate, coarsely chopped

Instructions:
  1. In a large bowl, combine the butter, agave nectar, egg, and vanilla extract. Sift in the flour, cornflour, baking powder, and cinnamon, and give it a good stir until a soft dough forms.
  2. Pack each side of the sushi maker with cookie dough, fill it up, and place the pusher piece in the slot. Close with the hinge and pack more dough in the open end.
  3. Once it's full, twist the extruder piece until the dough comes out easily in one log. Pop the dough logs in the fridge for 30 minutes to chill.
  4. Preheat your oven to 180C / 160C fan-forced, and line two baking trays with baking paper. Take out the chilled cookie dough logs and slice them into evenly sized rounds. Place them on the prepared trays and flatten each with a fork.
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown. Once they're done, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Now, grab a glass of milk and enjoy your perfectly shaped and deliciously baked cookies!

I always like to think outside the square and when I purchased mine some months ago I had no use for it as we don't bother with sushi At the back of my mind I thought it could be used for other things and like the other lady I use it in a similar way. Also could use with mince to make small patties...cheese logs anything that you want in this shape.

I have an easier way to bake cookies, buy Billy's G's Gourmet cookies, 1 KG tub makes 45-50 cookies depending on how big, I can get 80 10 cent size, just roll pop in oven-on-oven bake, bake 13 minutes depending on your even, no mess, just bake how many Cookies you want and put the tub back in the fridge. Great if someone pops in unexpected.
