Where are they? Two unclaimed $3.3 million NYE Lotto jackpots remain

Ever wondered what it’s like to win the lottery? Don’t worry, we daydream about that too. Becoming a millionaire overnight seems like a far-fetched idea for most of us, but for twelve lucky Aussies that dream just became a reality.

The problem is, two of the overnight millionaires have yet to claim their prize.

If you bought a lotto ticket for New Year’s Eve, maybe you’re one of the lucky winners that lotto officials have been looking for. Twelve people won a division one prize in last Saturday’s $40 million Gold Lotto draw, each taking home $3,333,333, and wow, that’s a lot of money!

Four winners bought their tickets from Queensland, another four were from Victoria, three of the ticket holders were from NSW, and one was from Western Australia.

Out of the twelve new millionaires, however, two have yet to come forward to claim their winnings.

The two tickets were bought at Nextra Orion, Springfield, and Julia Creek News, Julia Creek.

One of the winners revealed how he and his wife found the whole situation ‘surreal’.

‘Normally, I don’t [really] check my ticket straight away, but on Saturday night, I thought I’d have a quick look. Then, I started scrolling and I could see all six numbers lit up,’ he told reporters.

He shared that when he and his wife checked the ticket together, they ‘didn’t get much sleep’ over New Year’s Eve.

‘We just couldn’t believe it.’

The man explained that his wife picked the winning numbers, and ‘have used those numbers ever since’.

The man said he planned to use his winnings to pay off his mortgage and help his children.

Lotto officials are encouraging those who purchased an entry into the draw to double-check their tickets.

The winning numbers for the Gold Lotto draw 4325 on December 31, 2022, were: 11, 23, 35, 42, 20, and 45. The supplementary numbers were 8 and 38.

But what are the chances of winning the lottery? In truth, the odds vary greatly among different countries. In Australia, the odds of winning a division one prize are around 1:708,400.

Those looking to increase their chances of winning should play ‘traditional’ lottery games (like the Saturday Gold Lotto!) for better odds.

Nevertheless, the lottery is (largely) a game of luck – don’t get discouraged if you don’t win! Otherwise, you run the risk of developing a gambling disorder.

Key Takeaways

  • Two overnight millionaires have yet to come forward to claim their prize after winning a division one prize in Saturday’s $40 million Gold Lotto draw 4325.
  • Twelve people in total won the division one prize, each taking home $3,333,333.
  • The tickets were purchased at Nextra Orion, Springfield, and Julia Creek News, Julia Creek.
  • The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4325 on 31 December 2022 were 11, 23, 35, 42, 20 and 45. The supplementary numbers were 8 and 38.
I’d probably invest in a holiday home somewhere if I won the lottery, but what about you, members? What would you do with your money if you won the lottery? Share your thoughts with us below!

Oh my, oh my, - all of my dreams would come true if that ever happened. I would buy myself a house, a car, and house full of furniture and then the rest would be of course be split between to my sons also an investment for any other rainy day - not that there would be many if I could do all that. What a great surprise is waiting for the two lucky winners that do not know about it yet.

I have everything I need for a happy life, except maybe a new car. I would buy my son a home and pay off my daughters mortgage, even though she has nothing to do with me. After that I'd put $250,000 away in trust for each of my grandkids, not to be touched till they're 25, they're in single figures now so hopefully it would have grown into something substantial by the time they got it. Next would come friends, those that stuck by me would each get something nice, any leftovers would go to charity as they need it more than I do. :)
