When Laminate was first introduced
Remember when Laminex was first introduced in 1952?
This is one of the earliest photos I can find of a Laminex top with accompanying chairs and it's on a wooden base. I clearly recall the Laminex dining suite at home (which was bright yellow) but it had chrome legs on the table and chairs. I think I do remember when it was first introduced the Laminex top was on wood. What are your memories?
My mother dumped the beautiful old wooden dining room table and chairs and went with the Laminex. Nobody wanted it so it was probably chopped up for firewood. I didn't see anything unusual or wrong about that at the time but I'm wondering now if it was maybe hand-carved and oak or mahogany
