What lurks above Kmart's toy aisles? The 'hidden' discovery you need to see

Have you been to the toy section of your local Kmart lately? While it may have been a while for most of us, a recent discovery made by a shopper has exposed a surprising detail that's got us all concerned.

A member of the popular Facebook group Kmart Mums Australia recently shared a photo taken at the Penrith, NSW store, and it definitely caught our attention.

The photo shows the ceiling above the toy section covered in colourful blobs that look like children have been playing a game, trying to throw sticky toys onto the ceiling.

‘This is the roof above the toy section in my Kmart,' the shopper wrote. 'Obviously, the kids have a game to try and throw sticky toys on the roof.'

But here's the shocking truth - the colourful blobs are actually sticky toys that have become lodged there over time. Can you believe it? We can't imagine the mess and the risk of these toys falling on unsuspecting customers.

Looks like the sticky toy madness isn't just confined to one Kmart store either. As other members of the Kmart Mums Australia Facebook group pointed out, this peculiar sight has been spotted in stores across the country, and possibly even further afield.

'Isn't that the roof of every Kmart? Lol,' one person wrote.

While some may find the photo amusing and an interesting discovery, it's troubling to think that children (and adults alike!) feel it's acceptable to damage and steal from stores. It's not just a matter of making a mess - there's a real risk of someone getting hurt if these toys fall from the ceiling, as well as a tripping hazard if they end up on the floor.

It can vary depending on the circumstances. It's not just about making a mess or causing inconvenience. For example, if a small toy falls from the ceiling and hits a person, it could result in injury or major inconvenience, especially if it hits someone on the head or the toy gets stuck in their hair.

If the small toy has small parts, it could also pose a choking hazard to young children who may come across it and put it in their mouths. This could have serious consequences and is a significant concern for child safety.

In addition, the store could be held liable for any damages or injuries that occur due to the falling toy. If it is determined that the store was negligent in its maintenance and failed to ensure the safety of its premises, it may face legal consequences.

It's crucial to be aware of these risks and take appropriate actions to prevent any potential harm. It's not just about protecting the property of the store, but also ensuring the safety of all customers, especially children.

It's disappointing to see that some people don't seem to take the situation seriously. As one Facebook user pointed out, it's downright 'disgraceful' that people find this behaviour funny.

'It's sad that some people think it's okay to steal from and vandalise the shop,' another person went on to say.

I never looked at it liked that, I saw this at my local KMart, Collingwood plaza Redbank in Queensland a few months ago and thought it was disgusting, but never thought of the consequences, if they fell down. Another consequence is if one fell into a pram, and Mum didn’t notice not that scary. KMart should remove them from the shelves and clean the ceilings.

An adult or teenager has been doing this. A small child would have the strength to throw that high.

I'm guessing that the store will now review their security footage and also have other stores do the same as this Kmart Ceiling Bandit probably does it at other Kmart stores as well. Let's hope that the bandit does not hear that he is now wanted by the police as well and not just for malicious damages but opening products and destroying them.

BTW, FYI, this is not the roof. It is the ceiling.

EDIT: I have noticed that the original text has been amended to include the word ceiling in place of roof.

This is the same as in the supermarkets, bye mum see you in the toy section, they open boxes and play ball and run around bashing into other shoppers. Their parents need to be held responsible for the actions of their offspring
