What happened to this beloved cleaning brand at Woolworths and Coles? Customers are shocked to find it missing!

We all know how frustrating it can be when a certain product you rely on for your weekly cleaning is no longer available on the shelves of your local supermarket.

Not only do you have to scramble to find a replacement, but you also have to deal with the fact that no other product may deliver the same combination of performance and convenience that was once so readily available.

Sadly, this is a reality that many consumers of the cult-favourite cleaning line Method–and its range of cleaners–are now confronting.

That's right, folks! Method's range of cleaning products has suddenly gone missing from Woolworths, Coles and BIG W shelves across the country.

The reason for this sudden disappearance is unknown, but spectators point out it comes after a 2021 class action lawsuit that took place in the United States, in which Method was accused of mislabelling their products as 'non-toxic' and 'natural' when they allegedly contained ingredients that may not be.

Though the company behind the brand–SC Johnson & Son–admitted no wrongdoing, they still decided to go through with the settlement and pay out $3.4 million ($2.25 million USD) to consumers and remove the 'non-toxic' wording from the relevant products.

A representative confirmed the disappearance of Method products from store shelves. They told a local news outlet that the products were ‘discontinued’ and no longer sold in Australia.

This move has been met with dismay on social media, with many people who used to swear by the brand wondering why it has suddenly disappeared from their local stores.

It's believed that Method products can still be purchased online on Amazon, and a few remaining stocks may still be available at The Reject Shop.

In the meantime, patrons will just have to look into finding an acceptable replacement for their favourite cleaning brand.

Possible Alternatives for Method Cleaning Products

We understand how distressing it can be to find your trusty cleaning companion is no longer available at your local supermarket. As they say, friendships are formed over a shared love, and honestly, a lot of us have bonded with Method over the years. But as hard as breakups can be, sometimes the only way forward is to find a new love. And who knows, the next cleaning brand you choose might just sweep you off your feet in no time!

So, let's roll up our sleeves and dive into the vast ocean of cleaning supplies to find a worthy successor to Method.

Biozet, Ecover, and Earth Choice cleaning products may be good alternatives. Image source: Seniors Discount Club.

One of the serious contenders that's been picking up some attention on social media is the Ecover line of cleaning products. Like Method, Ecover proudly claims to use an innovative, plant-based formula, and biodegradable packaging. Although not available at Woolworths or Coles, you can still order their products online.

Then we have the Earth Choice brand, which is proudly Australian-made and boasts a range of cleaning products that are environmentally friendly, cruelty-free, and budget-friendly. Indeed, a positive step for those of us 'green-cleaning' darlings who are accessible in just about every supermarket across the nation.

Don't overlook the Biozet line either. Their laundry detergents have a bit of a cult following and are typically available at both Coles and Woolworths.

Frankly, the world of cleaning products was never solely a one-brand race. While Method's sudden withdrawal from market shelves may have left us perplexed and a little heartbroken, it's also an opportunity to explore and fall in love with a new cleaning brand. Who knows, we might just find 'the one' that ticks all the boxes–safe, effective, and budget-friendly too!

So remember, dear members, there are plenty of fish in the cleaning aisle! If you’re fans of Method, don’t allow its disappearance to kill your cleaning spirit. Sharing is caring–share with us in the comment section below what cleaning products you swear by!

Could always try some good simple mixtures with the recipes offered on here. I find SDC to be good information suppliers. Sometimes you have to wade through some rubbish then you find the pearler. You could drop an email to one of the wonderful kind folk that run this forum and they'll help you out. No nasty chemicals any more, be kind to your lungs and skin.

I totally agree with your comments about SDC Granny*Deb. There are far too many negative comments on line here some accusing or rubbishing SDC over what they post for our information. Not sure how many members they have, and obviously all from across this huge country, so they try to give us information about a variety of issues. My opinion - take it or leave it. No one is forcing anyone to swallow it all and to agree. There are many topics I don’t even open because the ‘heading’ just does not interest me. GIVE SDC A BREAK, MEMBERS.

Never used Method.

But i did notice Coles no longer has O'Cedar polish anymore, Woollies does though and Bunnings has a bigger bottle in a spray pack.

Biozet never cut it for me - it just never seemed to do a good job.
Earthchoice was another i never tried. Never seen Ecover.

Also Coles has put up some prices in the cleaning aisle. Woollies probably won't be far behind if they haven't already either.

I'm tired of them CUTTING products and replacing them with unheard of copies of things or not even giving another option for what they cut.

I belief ALL cleaning products in Supermarkets have toxic chemicals in them ost of which interfere with our hormones. I make my own Laundry liquid & costs me about $32 for 10 Lt. I hate going down the laundry isle for washing soda & BlueO. My DIY Spray n wipe cost me $1.02 per 500 ml, Window cleaner .20 cents per 100 ml. Baby wipes cost me .5 cents each. Lots of DIY recipes around LOL
