In 2018, 37-year-old identical twins Josh and Jeremy Salyers married identical twins Briana and Britany.
Now, in a playful twist of fate, the couples gave birth to two male babies at the same time, introducing an extremely rare set of "quaternary twins".

We admit that we have never even heard the term before, and assume that you lot may be in the same boat!
So, what exactly are "quaternary twins"?
One of the mums, Brittany Salyers, explained the case: “They [the babies] were born to identical twin parents less than nine months apart."
“Twins married to twins who both have babies at the same time.”
Basically, since the parents share the same DNA, the offspring of the two couples will also have similar genetics, making them genetically more like siblings than cousins.

It should be noted that the Salyers gave birth to Jett, who turned 1 in January, and Jax, who will turn 1 in April.
The babies were conceived and born not more than 9 months from each other, meaning they can pass off as "twins" and are therefore considered as "quaternary twins".
The sisters admitted that they had talks about the possibility of having quaternary twins.
Briana said: “We were hoping that we would have overlapping pregnancies so that this would happen.”
“We thought it would be really cool."
“There are only 300 quaternary marriages known in the history of the world.”

The Salyers, who run a joint Instagram page, posted a photo showing the boys side-by-side along with the caption: "Jett and Jax: Cousins, Genetic Brothers, and Quaternary Twins!"
The couples also revealed that they all live under one roof in Virginia, USA.
“It was something we all four wanted and when we got engaged, we all wanted it that way,” Brittany told NBC News of the unconventional living arrangement.
“It’s something that’s very nice. (Josh and Jeremy) understand the twin bond as we do. We get to have a lot of together time.”
They also confessed that while they enjoy sharing their story on social media, a number of social media users still leave negative comments on their lifestyle choice.
Brittany said: “We try to ignore sociopathic stalker comments and just focus on the positive.”
“Some people think we are really strange and others think it’s really amazing. We’ve got a lot of support and interest and we’ve been grateful for that.”
Meanwhile, the couples said that they have not decided on future babies yet.
Briana said: “We are debating if we should go for one more pregnancy each or not."
“We will make a decision pretty soon. The babies are still pretty young (and) we are trying to wait a little longer to see what to do.”
So, there you have it, folks! This interesting phenomenon is proof that destiny can sometimes be playful.
