Just before my 50th bday, I raced my hubby to the top of Ayers Rock (Uluru), because he was always telling me how unfit I was, but I knew that wasn’t true! I must say, it was hard going, my knees have never been the same since!

Don't be afraid of a knee replacement, they beat the hell out of the pain. I have had both done.

Hi my name is Salvatore (Sam). In my younger days I have achieved my goals and nearly reached my full dreams. As an Elite Sports person I achieved many accolades such as representing Australia in Junior World championship where I placed twice 7th in the world and came 11th in the Senior world championships in Weightlifting. I also competed in Europe. My finest achievement was winning gold at the 1978 Commonwealth Games where I had to brake 2 Commonwealth Records. My disappointment was injuring my shoulder at the Olympic trials in 1980 against America for the 1980 Olympic Games and missed out going to Moscow Olympics due to injury. I can also say that I coached many athletes in weightlifting and soccer as a volunteer and never received any money for my services. I am a life member of Weightlifting WA and Life Member of Commonwealth Games Australia WA Division. I am currently the President of Commonwealth Games WA Division for the past 10 years. In 2023 I was also inducted into the Walk of Fame by City of Joondalup one of the best suburbs to live in WA. You can see the details in the Perth Now Blog below by going to the link below.
