Westpac expands cash transaction services across Australia

In an era where news about banks and financial institutions going 'cashless' seems increasingly common, it's like a breath of fresh air to discover that there are still some prioritising cash transactions.
For Westpac customers, this is particularly good news! More Westpac customers will now find it easier to access their money as the bank branches extend their cash transaction services nationwide.
The bank has announced that customers can now visit any Westpac, St. George, BankSA, or Bank of Melbourne branch across Australia for various cash transactions. This includes withdrawals, deposits, and transfers.
This move ensures convenience for customers and emphasises the importance of catering to diverse financial preferences in an evolving banking landscape.
Westpac's Chief Executive, Peter King, said the expansion is part of the bank’s new technology initiative to provide improved access across all branches nationwide.
‘This is part of our broader strategy to provide our customers, including in rural and regional Australia, greater access to banking services,’ said Mr King, adding: ‘...through investing in technology, digital services such as our mobile app and video banking, branch footprint and key partnerships.’
With the rollout, customers of St. George, BankSA, and Bank of Melbourne can conduct transactions at any Westpac branch and vice versa.
The bank said it has opened more than 80 co-locations across Australia since 2021, further enhancing accessibility. All ATMs and coin deposit machines will also be available for customers of all these brands.
‘This completes a major piece of work as we integrate technology across Westpac Group brands,’ explained Mr King.
‘We are simplifying and consolidating our operations so that we deliver better services for customers, no matter which Westpac brand they use.’
Westpac Group Consumer Chief Executive Jason Yetton said, ‘Our customers are now doing their banking across multiple channels, so we’ve created a more connected branch network to make it easier for them to bank with us no matter which of our brands they choose.’
He also emphasised that many small businesses and sole operators require convenient access to cash for their day-to-day operations. With these changes, it will be even more convenient for them to visit Westpac branches for essential tasks like deposits, withdrawals, and transfers.
BankSA customers will now have access to 488 banking locations across Australia, including 15 Westpac branches in South Australia. Similarly, Westpac customers will gain access to 53 BankSA branches in South Australia.
