'After 11 incredible years, our beloved home is being redeveloped,' Mejico wrote on its website.
'This means we will be packing up our tequila and saying farewell to Pitt Street for now.'
'Join us for our last hurrah and enjoy a taste of nostalgia! We invite you to come and share some of your favourite Mejico memories with us,' the restaurant added.
The restaurant also planned a farewell party, treating customers to $10 cocktails and special tequila-tasting sessions.
The restaurant's final day of trade will be on Sunday, 27 October.
The announcement came as a bittersweet moment for both the patrons and the restaurant's proprietors.
