Hmmm, beans, legumes, whole grains all high in carbs, mostly modified, pushes blood glucose up, keeps it up if you keep eating it. Good way to end up with diabetes. Berries maybe in small amounts, grow your own. Nuts maybe, though can give gut grief if you eat too many. Leafty greens full of oxalates, we don't need them. Keep carbs low, bit of red wine and chocolate if you are really healthy. Sump the rest along with junk foods and go very low carb

As healthy as we can possibly be at age 80 & 73, but we do eat quite a bit of fish and seafood living where we do and occasionally some lovely red meat. I do feel sorry for those who are missing out who think most of it is "junk food", so I'll have their share 😉

I've eaten whole grains, beans and legumes my entire life, because my mother was way ahead of her time nutritionally. Every day I eat homemade muesli with whole rolled oats, nuts, pepitas, sunflower seeds and dried apricots. Before I begin eating, I add chia seeds, blueberries and stewed apple, with cinnamon sprinkled over it.

I also begin each day with a mandarin or orange, depending on the season, and eat yogurt and black cherries daily.

I'll be celebrating my 78th birthday next week, and I've never had high cholesterol, high blood sugar or high blood pressure. Eating this way doesn't appear to have adversely affected my health, so I guess I'll just keep eating this way.

All my life I've eaten wholegrains, fruit and vegetables which are carbs. No diabetes or high blood pressure.
However, I guess everybody's body acts differently. Genetics play a huge role imo.
