Want to have a spotless bathroom? Here's how a professional cleaner achieves the perfect clean!

Everyone can relate to the feeling of wanting a clean bathroom. We all know it's important to clean it regularly, but let's be honest, it can be daunting to figure out where to start. It's a good thing we have expert cleaner Kacie Stephens from The Big Clean Co to show us the way.

Kacie's routine is not just for her clients but also for herself, which makes her tips more practical and relatable.

She starts with maintenance cleaning, which includes essential tasks like vacuuming, dusting, and scrubbing. We all know that these tasks are essential to keeping a clean bathroom, but we may not be aware of how to do them effectively.

Thankfully, Stephens has shared her process, making it easier for everyone to follow. By providing step-by-step instructions, we can now take the overwhelming part out of cleaning our bathroom and achieve a sparkling clean space with confidence.

Before cleaning, Stephens starts by removing any items from the floor and countertops to make it easier to navigate the bathroom. Then, she tackles the pesky hair on the floors and surfaces with a vacuum cleaner.

Next, she dives straight into the dirtiest item in the bathroom - the toilet. She shares her go-to cleaning technique of using a diluted cleaning product and a few pieces of folded-up toilet paper to wipe and dust the toilet seat, lid, bowl, and base.

And if you've ever dealt with tough black stains in your toilet bowl, other cleaners also recommend using a small can of citric acid to clean it effectively. Simply pour a generous amount into the toilet bowl, leave it for a few minutes, give it a quick scrub, and then flush the dirty water - an easy hack that can make a big difference.

To really get into all the crevices, Stephens also uses a toilet brush, highlighting the importance of keeping your loo brush clean - and that includes the holder too, which is often forgotten!

It's a reminder that sometimes we forget the small things when cleaning, but they can make all the difference in the end.

Stephens' cleaning routine doesn't stop at the toilet. She moves on to cleaning the bathtub, taking extra care to look out for any cracks or signs of damage in the grout and shower. Although this is more of a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of clean, it's an essential part of maintaining a clean bathroom.

Next is the shower, an area that can quickly become a breeding ground for mildew, soap scum, and other types of grime.

Stephens starts by giving it a good washing and scrubbing - many cleaning solutions are available on the market, but you can also create a natural cleaning solution using vinegar, baking soda, or even lemon juice. Just be sure to read the labels and choose a product that's appropriate for your shower surfaces.

After cleaning, it's crucial to squeegee any residue from the shower. This not only helps to prevent water spots but also ensures that the shower is left to dry.

After the shower, Stephens gives the basin and mirror a very thorough scrub. It's a reminder that a clean mirror and sink can make a big difference in making the bathroom look spotless.

Stephens also pays attention to the smaller details, dusting the window sills, skirting boards, and all the other nooks and crannies where dust can potentially hide. When those are done, it's time to mop the floor and then put all the items you removed back into the bathroom.

Don’t know where to start when cleaning the bathroom_ Here are some tips from a professional-.jpg

For Stephens, the time it takes to clean a bathroom varies - it can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 1.5 hours if you're giving the bathroom the deep clean treatment. But for regular maintenance cleaning, 5-10 minutes a day is ideal for maintaining a pristine loo and keeping it looking spotless.

It's a good thing to keep in mind that sometimes all it takes is a few minutes a day to keep the bathroom clean and avoid the stress of deep cleaning.
Key Takeaways

  • Professional cleaner Kacie Stephens has shared her process for a maintenance bathroom clean.
  • She starts cleaning with the toilet because it's the dirtiest item before moving on to the bathtub, shower, mirror, and countertops. She also recommends dusting the windowsills and skirting boards to keep dust in check.
  • A maintenance cleaning can take 20 minutes to 1.5 hours, but a maintenance cleaning of 5 to 10 minutes a day can make all the difference.
Stephens isn't just an expert in cleaning bathrooms - she also has a tried and tested process for cleaning the kitchen. She suggests that when it comes to cleaning the whole house, the kitchen should be the first area to tackle because it leads to more efficient cleaning.

Stephens' kitchen cleaning routine starts with putting away all the dishes, utensils, and anything that's on top of the counters. This ensures that even the small corners of the kitchen are cleaned.

She then gets everything off the stovetop and soaks it in the water while she cleans the rest of the space. Stephens shared that she starts with stove tops because they're usually the dirtiest part of the kitchen.

She also pays attention to the smaller details, wiping the window sills and the other side of the counter from top to bottom (starting from the bottom means that any dirt, dust, and grime from higher up will cascade down again once you've finished cleaning).

Taking care of a bathroom can be a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be. Everyone has their own tips and tricks to share when it comes to maintaining a clean and tidy bathroom. Maybe you have a special cleaning solution that you swear by, or perhaps you have a specific cleaning routine that works wonders for you.

Some people like to keep their cleaning supplies close at hand, making it easier to do a quick clean-up whenever necessary. Others prefer to do a deep clean once a week to ensure that their bathroom is spotless.

that's a normal routine and has been used in my family for several generations. Can't see anything new here. It's really common sense.
There is that term again "Common Sense" sorry but definitely not common anymore, There are a lot of people out there who have never been taught or shown how to clean and would not recognise dirt if they fell over it. I read articles and watch you tube in the hope of being told or shown something new that will help to make cleaning easier even though I do know how to. there is no such thing as too much knowledge.

It is common sense to make something clean . I was never taught to clean but knew you had to pull furniture out to clean under as with appliance. I knew I had to make a cleaning routine . If you don't or cant have / want a clean house then you must be in the following categories

I'll / frail and cant

Lazy or just a plain grub

Every time I say to my daughter “it’s my cleaning day”, she tells me “what are you talking about, your house is always clean” so I just laugh, because it’s true!
I can’t understand how some people can let their places go to that stage.
I clean my house every week, and during the week I’ll do what’s needed around the place. Her stove was terrible. I clean mine every time I cook.
I hate clutter, every year I sort out things I don’t need anymore and give it away or throw in the rubbish bins.
Another way that works for me is: if I’m cooking or making a cup of tea or even take the clothes out off the line etc., I put back everything that I used straight away, so everything is tidy all the time. I’ve seen people take things from the pantry and they stay on the bench “forever”.
Anyway, it’s just how I am - like my daughter says “pedantic” 😂😂
Have a lovely afternoon everyone!!! 👋🏼👋🏼
