We all know tomato sauce as a condiment, but did you know that you can use it for cleaning too?
Apparently, mums across the globe have been raving about this unlikely cleaning product after a number of savvy cleaners shared the little-known tip online.
And the hype has made its way Down Under, thanks to one Perth mum who revealed how she used tomato sauce to restore her dirty drain to its original shiny state.

Mum-of-two Luciana has taken to Facebook to share the "tomato sauce" hack, revealing that she had tried using other hacks to clean her bathroom sink before to no avail.

So, when she stumbled upon the tomato sauce hack, she did not hesitate to give it a go...
Luciana said that she just simply lathered the exposed steel area of her sink with tomato sauce and left it on the drain for 11 hours.
Once 11 hours had passed, the mum scrubbed and rinsed the sink before revealing a shiny sink that looked brand new.

Other mums also shared how the unlikely product helped them restore their tarnished appliances and furniture.
Sharing on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group, British mum Jo said that she was impressed by how the tomato sauce transformed a rusty stainless steel stool into a shiny piece of furniture.
“Before and after with the ketchup, five-minute job, amazing," she shared, along with a couple of photos showing the before and after state of the bottom of her stool.

Tomato sauce contains acetic acid — a chemical compound that can break down rust and other dirt buildup.
