With McDonald’s Loose Change Menu prices remaining low until at least June 2023, anyone can grab a tasty bite to eat at Macca’s for $2 or less.
But one customer recently uncovered a McDonald's Australia pricing detail that baffled social media. One Aussie, who goes by the username @review_food_challenges, shared a peculiar observation about McDonald's hamburgers and cheeseburgers.

He pointed out that both burgers have the same ingredients, such as beef, onions, pickles, tomato sauce, and mustard, with the only difference being an extra slice of cheese in the Cheeseburger.
However, despite the minor difference, the Hamburger is priced at $2 and is part of the Loose Change Menu, while the Cheeseburger costs $4.55.
The customer demanded an explanation from McDonald's for the huge discrepancy.
He said in the video: ‘So I’m telling you now, Macca’s is charging you $2.55 for a slice of f***ing cheese.’
‘What the f***, Macca’s. Please explain.’
The video elicited a strong response from other customers, with some of them expressing shock at the outrageous price difference.
One person wrote: ‘I’m sorry, but $2.55 for a slice of cheese is insane.’
‘I couldn’t believe the cost of the cheeseburger. I was shocked - this is the end of an era for me and McDonald’s,’ another said.
‘I will no longer buy a cheeseburger at Macca’s.’
However, others defended McDonald’s, pointing out that the hamburger usually costs more outside the Loose Change Menu promotional period.
‘It’s because there’s a promotion on the Hamburger. It’s usually more,’ one user pointed out.
It is understood that McDonald’s Loose Change Menu includes the Hamburger, which costs $2 from 10.30 am to midnight and will remain at that price until June 2023.
The introduction of the menu is part of Macca’s commitment to providing excellent quality and value to its two million daily customers.
Outside of the Loose Change Menu hours, the Hamburger is typically priced around 75 cents less than the Cheeseburger, although prices may vary across different stores.
