When growing up one of my favourite biscuits were the Arnotts ginger nut, when the company was still Australian. They were as hard as a brick and the best way of eating them was to lay them on top of a glass of milk, they would float and as the milk was absorbed they would sink a little deeper into the milk. You would have to act quickly and take them out and pop them into your mouth and they would break up. You would get that lovely ginger taste with the milk. With the Yanks buying Arnotts and changing the recipe the biscuit is a quarter of the size, pale colour, artificial taste and when you open the packet you are lucky if you get 2/3 that are not broken...so if you want a 'stiff biscuit' don't buy any that are made by Yanks... good luck.
