Veteran actor Julien Arnold passes away at 60

The stage, a place of drama and emotion, became a scene of profound sorrow when veteran actor Julien Arnold's life came to an unexpected end during a live performance.

The incident, which occurred at the Citadel Theater in Edmonton, Canada, has left the theatre community and audiences in shock and mourning.



Julien Arnold, aged 60, was portraying multiple characters, including Marley and Mr Fezziwig, in the festive classic A Christmas Carol when he suffered a medical emergency.

The tragedy unfolded on Sunday evening, 24 November, in front of hundreds of audience.

Despite the swift arrival of paramedics at approximately 8:28 PM and their multiple attempts to resuscitate him, Julien’s life could not be saved.

The cause of his untimely death has not been disclosed.

The Citadel Theatre released a heartfelt tribute to the actor.

'It is with heavy hearts we share the news of the sudden passing of Julien Arnold, a beloved actor and dear friend of the Citadel Theatre,' the statement read.

‘A cherished member of the Edmonton theatre community, Julien was a gifted performer whose charisma and talent graced our stage in countless productions, including A Christmas Carol.’



‘Julien’s passing is a profound loss to his family, friends, fellow Carol company members, Citadel staff and the Edmonton community he loved so dearly,’ the statement continued.

‘His presence brought joy, heart and depth to every role, and his artistic contributions—and big hugs—will be deeply missed.’

‘In his honour, this season’s run of A Christmas Carol is dedicated to his memory. We kindly ask for respect for his family’s privacy during this difficult time. Your love, support, and well wishes are deeply appreciated.’

The loss of Julien is felt deeply within the Edmonton theatre community, where he was known not only for his artistic contributions but also for his warmth and generosity.

His career spanned over three decades, with notable roles in The Importance of Being Earnest, Spamalot, Beauty and the Beast, and many more.

His ability to bring characters to life on stage won him admiration and respect from peers and audiences alike.



The Punctuate Theatre, where Julien’s wife, Sheiny Satanove, serves as managing director, also shared a touching tribute.

‘Julien was a cherished member of the Edmonton theatre community whose warmth, talent, and generosity touched so many lives he left us as he lived—immersed in his passion for theatre,’ the statement read.

The theatre has established a fundraiser to support his wife during this difficult time, and details of a memorial service are to be announced.

‘Julien’s presence will forever be missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him,’ it added.

The curtain may have closed on Julien Arnold's final performance, but the stories and memories he created will ensure that his spirit remains a vibrant part of the theatre world.
