Used to have this with grilled cheese on Sunday nights. It was a quick dinner after the Sunday Roast Lunch.

We used to drink hot water with vegemite or marmite in it in the winter as a hot drink to warm us up. We often had a slice of buttered bread with it, but not in it, and this would be our tea on a weekend night. Cheap meal when you were feeding 8 kids and 2 adults on very little money. We sometimes had Bonox in hot water as a drink as well, not sure if Bonox is even available anymore. I still like a drink of vegemite in hot water occasionally, just for the memories it envokes.

When I was quite young my mum was in hospital & my father fed us every night with Vegemite soup for about 2 weeks, thankfully my grandpas came to SA to save us from this & cooked us lovely meals.
