When aged 18 I was to make my debut, with a partner from the local pipes and drum band. Unfortunately he had a car accident two days before the deb ball and my friend Dot said "Bob from our Wednesday tennis group dances". Having not had much to do with him I took the bit in my teeth and asked him. With some hesitancy he said "all right, but you pay for my ticket". The rest as they say.is history. After a fabulous night.of dancing, being presented to Margaret and Gough whitlam. We proceeded to talk until 5 in the morning. He rang me at work every.day for the next few weeks. Deb ball was in July, we were engaged by Christmas, married 20 months later, first son 5 yrs later quickly followed by a daughter and another son. Bob developed parkinsons late in our marriage but lived to see 7 wonderful grandchildren grace our lives. 48 years of marriage, 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and one great granddaughter he never met, but would have delighted him. Bob never forgot a birthday, anniversary or.important date bless him.

I had never been one to say or even feel that flutter in a relationship. If one ended, I was usually okay with that, and moved on.
But a few years ago, I was introduced to the man who would eventually become my husband. He was in Africa; I was in Australia.
We phoned and video called for months, until I took my first trip of many to Ghana.
I was excited to meet him for the first time, in the flesh. I emerged from the cool, air conditioned airport, into the hot, Acrid air scanning the crowd.

Like a vision from a movie, my man emerged, resplendent in his traditional royal cloth, flanked by another chief, and his son, also in the bright colours of African fabrics.
I ran to him and we kissed. As I relaxed from his embrace, the words came from my mouth. “I love you!” It was not a plan, it just came from my mouth, the first time I had uttered the words in decades.
I held my breath, shocked by my words, and he responded, “I love you, too”.
Nothing has ever compared with that joyous moment of love.

I met the love of my life at high school when she was fourteen and I was sixteen. We found an instant attraction that has stood all the ups and downs of life. Parents of our beautiful daughter at nineteen and seventeen, we belied common opinion and were married shortly after. With meaningful, loving support from our parents we were able to support our little family which soon included a little sister for our daughter! Living on a single apprentice's wage taught us how to appreciate the value and pride of making our family unit "work' as well as two people so young could. As a single income family, we forged forward as a team to raise two beautiful daughters, who have never been anything other than a source of pride! Both girls have meaningfully contributed to society and are easily our greatest achievement in our life together. On the coming 2nd of March we will celebrate fifty years of marriage.... so much for the people who said 'it won't last'! As we move into our twilight years, I reflect back and consider - would I change a thing? No! We never gave up, we did the very best we could, within our means and we continue to live a happy and loving life together!

In 1977 I was living in the USA. McDonalds Restaurant was having a competition in conjunction with a local radio station called ‘Dinner for two at McDonalds anywhere in the world’. I won that competition and chose to come to Australia. My girlfriend and I got our dinner and we were escorted by one of their Supervisors by the name of Neil. I though he was a bit handsome! Neil took my friend and I sightseeing around Melbourne. We were only there a week but I loved it. Neil said come back anytime so I decided to come back for a longer visit. I came back for a month and saw a lot more of the country. Upshot is that on the night before I was to leave for home Neil proposed and I said Yes!!! So I went home got everything sorted to move to Australia. Neil and I were married in September 1978 and have been now been for 45 years!!

That is lovely, we are glad you came, 45 years is a long time, congratulations to you both. Yes we think our Country is a good place to live, we agree with you.

I was 13 and playing pool at the 500 snooker room at Dulwich Hill with a friend when my eyes met the biggest blue eyes and dark hair longer than mine.

I had a fan girl crush on Jon English and the singer from Hush , and this guy looked across between both of them

His friend came over to ask us if we wanted to play doubles and that was the start to our relationship.

Turned out we also attended the same school Dulwich Hill High.
I often jigged school and went home early , he would see me leaving and then walk me to class .

We jumped many hurdles , he was Greek I was an Aussie girl. My family didn't want me with a Greek and his wanted him with Greek girl not an Aussie .

The two years later We found out I was pregnant so we then moved in together , everyone thought it wouldn't work and that we were too young.

I was 16 and he just turned 19 when our daughter was born.

Today we have 13 kids, 19 grandchildren and still together after 49 years . I'm 62 he is 65

Unfortunately my beloved cousin who I grew up with passed away and today is her birthday I’m also separated from an awful x husband who bought me a gift of this day some years it was wrapped and I thought ‘wow’ he does appreciate me. However when I unwrapped my gift to was a red tool box that he actually bought for himself. Sorry laugh then but goodness gracious what a self idjut he was and I believe he still is. Glad to have said goodbye to him (scumbag) is his nickname.

Unfortunately my beloved cousin who I grew up with passed away and today is her birthday I’m also separated from an awful x husband who bought me a gift of this day some years it was wrapped and I thought ‘wow’ he does appreciate me. However when I unwrapped my gift to was a red tool box that he actually bought for himself. Sorry laugh then but goodness gracious what a self idjut he was and I believe he still is. Nine years ago I received a call to see if I could offer accommodation and care to a young guy in need. I agreed to meet him and was immediately smitten by his beautiful brown eyes and delightful smile. I fell in love on the spot. He came to live with me that day and with some short breaks over the intervening years has continued to do so. My sweet little guy is loved so much, and you might have guessed, I'm a full time grandparent- age foster carer of a gorgeous little man.

Both of our parents were very good friends back in Malta. My mother use to look after my future husband while she was pregnant with me. Both of our families migrated to Australia in 1964, Joe and I were just 5 years old. I have attached couple of photos of us when we were still living in Malta.

As we grew into teenagers we started to get closer and our love built since then. We got engaged on my 21st Birthday and Married the following year on Valentines Day 1981.

We celebrated our 43rd Wedding Anniversary yesterday - 14 Feb 2024.

We have been blessed with 3 wonderful sons who we are immensely proud of, 2 beautiful grandchildren who we love dearly with another grandchild on the way late February early March.

Sadly we had lost our twin daughters (stillborn at 21 weeks) who would have been 23 years old this year. We still think about them everyday.

We have had our share of ups and downs but we have always supported each other no matter what.

When you have Love and Respect for each other and thats everything you need for a healthy, long and happy marriage.

I went into labour on the 14 February early morning and was transferred immediately to the main hospital. After several hours the doctors decided I needed to have a cesarean section as my baby was getting distressed. My blood pressure was very high and they feared for my life also.
A epidural was put in place, my husband was suited up and I was being wheeled down a hallway toward the operating room. When suddenly my husband was pushed away, a mask placed over my face and I knew no more until I awoke in the recovery room.
A nurse seeing I was awake came over to tell me I had a son. He was in the neo natal unit. Later they took me to meet him. I was allowed to hold him. I fell in love holding that little body. Yesterday he was 35 years old.
Strangest part. My maiden name was Valentine.

My boyfriend proposed to me on top of the tower in Kings Park. But the problem was it was raining, windy, etc. It was a beautiful ring that I picked from Solid Gold a while ago and there in total 11 diamonds. Now numbers are are amazing factors or what? But to let you know ever since he proposed to me that day, there has not been a single storm that we experienced. All I can say it was meant to be and to remember to be proposed soaking wet and almost being blown away from strong winds we are still together! We got married on 11 April 1992. Again The number 11! We brought our daughter home on our wedding anniversary on the traditional anniversary of Crystal and her name is Kristal! Numbers, names and love is one amazing thing in my family!
