US Coast Guard Finds 'Presumed Human Remains’ From The Missing Titan Submersible

In a heartbreaking announcement, the US Coast Guard revealed they have discovered what are believed to be the human remains of five missing passengers onboard the sunken Titan minivan-sized submersible.

Last week, authorities determined that a catastrophic implosion had occurred in the North Atlantic, where all five men aboard tragically lost their lives. To read more about this story, click here.

The Canadian-led search was conducted by the Horizon Arctic, a local anchor-handling vessel, which was loaded with remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs) to search the ocean floor for pieces of the sunken submersible.

This week, that search yielded pieces from the Titanic-bound vessel that were hoisted onto a Canadian pier.

Among these were a white panel-like piece and another similarly sized part with cords and wires draped with a white tarp. However, it is still unclear what these pieces represent.

Commenting on the recovery mission, Pelagic Research Services—a company with offices in Massachusetts and New York that owns the ROVs—expressed that their team is ‘still on mission’ and cannot comment on the ongoing Titan investigation, which involves several government agencies in the US and Canada.

They said, 'They have been working around the clock now for ten days, through the physical and mental challenges of this operation, and are anxious to finish the mission and return to their loved ones.'

The search began after debris from the ill-fated vessel was located 3,810 metres underwater and roughly 488 metres from the Titanic shipwreck. It is believed the submersible encountered a pressure differential that resulted in a 'catastrophic implosion'.

Now, medical professionals will analyse the human remains recovered near the wreckage.

Key Takeaways

  • 'Presumed human remains' have been found within the wreckage of the imploded Titan submersible in the North Atlantic.
  • The Titan, a minivan-sized vessel bound for the Titanic wreck, tragically imploded, killing all five men on board.
  • Large pieces of the doomed submersible were brought onto a Canadian pier by the ship Horizon Arctic for further inspection and analysis.
  • Pelagic Research Services, owner of a remotely operated vehicle used to search the ocean floor near the Titanic wreck, said it had completed offshore operations and cannot currently comment on the Titan investigation.

We hope the recent developments, such as the discovery of presumed human remains and the recovery of pieces from the wreckage, will provide some solace and closure to the affected families involved in this tragic story.

All our thoughts go out to the families, loved ones, and everyone affected by this tragedy.

Strange how this was "the news" that over shadowed the drowning of hundreds of refugees off the coast of Greece . Maybe a bit of a wake-up call we all need on how the media spin the news that will make the most money .
Sort of why I have gone from a bit of a news junkie to having a quick look online ; mostly ABC news as most others can't be trusted not to favour the sponsor's $$$$ for "the news"
TV news is now totally ridiculous IMO . Like what does the pretty-face news reader do apart from read the headlines ?

I agree with @IanB , the lives lost on the boat in Greece was shocking .

I hope the family of those rich people who chose to go on this trip knowing the risk get their closure.

What I'm more sad with is all the funerals happening this week from The Hunter Valley Bus Tragedy. My prayers 🙏 are for those who lost their lives RIP and to the friends and family to receive the strength to heal and be able to eventually remember those that died without being so sad

And the people in Lismore are still awaiting insurance payouts/government assistance to be rehoused and the RBA is still thinking of cranking up interest rates to ensure more people get evicted for non-payment of mortgages and on the international scene.........

They should have left it all down there as a water grave site and just put the cause down to what they already figured out. This is too sad and morbid.

The end of life is always sad regardless of wars, underwater terror, accidents, and age-related passing away. I am sad for the people who passed whether they were famous, rich, unknown, or poor. I am even further sorry for all the innocent friends, relatives, or workmates who are left behind to mourn their loss. Please, I implore you all to curb your criticisms out of respect if nothing else. RIP to all those who recently passed.

No sympathy for the super rich who need to go to extremes, the cost of recovering and investigating what went wrong should be covered by their estates not the taxpayers. Hardly a mention about the other sad events that have happened.

Get a grip! People have died! Stop being so horrible with your shameful comments. Are you seniors with supposed wisdom in your years or just mean like the young bullies? It doesn't matter if they're rich or not. THEY'VE DIED! A young teenager DIED! HAVE SOME RESPECT and if you have nothing respectful to say, then just Zip It. Shame on you.

@db2022 . Come on ; we are only putting respective in the Media's handling of the two incidents ..
And , we need to become more understanding of death past what the media "trains" us . People who work in the death industry (morgues/funerals) don't walk around all days with their heads bowed in silences .. At least we have moved past the gotta-wear black .
Every one dies (at least once) ; some are more tragic and sadder than others and many more should be allowed to die with dignetty as it suits them ..

They entered that dive knowing they may not survive, how about the families of these people and the young lad didn't want to go.
