Urinary tract infections combat the natural way
Urinary infections are becoming more and more resistant to antibiotics, try home remedies to cure them and prevent further infections naturally.
Women are generally the most affected by UTIs, but that doesn't mean men aren't. If the infection is not cured, it can turn into a very serious problem that can harm the kidneys.
Causes of a urinary tract infection can be sexual intercourse, holding urine for too long, pregnancy, menopause and diabetes.
Common symptoms include frequent urge to urinate, passing small amounts of urine, burning sensation when urinating, change in color of urine, abdominal pain, fever, nausea and vomiting.
1-Cranberry juice
Researchers discovered as early as the 1840s that the hippuric acid in cranberries inhibits the growth of E. coli bacteria, the most common cause of urinary tract infections. Hippuric acid keeps E. coli in the walls of the urinary tract, preventing it from reaching the kidneys. Cranberry juice contains antioxidants that break down the bond between bacteria and the urethral walls and weaken the bacteria.
For a natural remedy, drink three 8 ounce servings of pure cranberry juice, make sure it is not a “cocktail” juice, does not contain a lot of sugar, or eat 1/2 cup of dried cranberries .

2-Blueberry juice
If cranberry juice is too bitter, pure blueberry juice also contains antioxidants that help fight UTIs in a similar way. As with cranberry juice, drink three 8-ounce glasses when experiencing symptoms or snack on 1/2 cup blueberries.
3-Tea tree oil
Tea tree oil has antibacterial properties useful for fighting bacteria that cause bladder infections such as urinary tract infections.
-Mix 10 drops of tea tree oil in your bath water and use this water to wash the opening of the urethra.
-Alternatively, you can mix tea tree oil with equal amounts of sandalwood and juniper oil and rub this mixture on the abdominal region and on the area near the bladder. It is very effective in reducing pain associated with urinary infections. Follow this remedy once a day for three to four days.
4-Parsley for urinary infections
Parsley tea can help relieve a urinary tract infection and speed up the healing process by acting as a diuretic. Parsley has some anti-fungal properties. Fresh parsley also contains apiol, an essential oil that acts as a urinary antiseptic. Additionally, since it is a diuretic, it helps eliminate bad bacteria that causes UTIs. Not to be taken by pregnant women.
-Boil at least four cups of water.
-Chop at least four teaspoons of fresh parsley (including stems and roots if available).
-Soak the chopped parsley for 20 minutes then filter.
-Drink four cups a day for up to 7 days – drink hot or cold. It can be reheated, but should not be boiled.
5-horseradish and garlic
Horseradish has antiseptic and antibiotic properties, it also has a diuretic effect, making it a popular treatment for urinary infections. A decoction prepared by boiling 1 g of dried or fresh horseradish roots in 80 ml of water can be taken up to three times a day. It is particularly effective at killing bacteria in the urinary tract. Horseradish is not recommended for pregnant women or for people with kidney problems or peptic ulcers.
