So, for those of you with a sweet tooth, you may need to think twice before stocking up on these popular sweet treats from your local supermarket.
Woolworths has issued an urgent recall for a popular ice cream item due to concerns that it may be contaminated with metal.
The affected product is the Woolworths brand Cookies & Cream Classic Ice Cream Sandwiches 4 Pack (440mL), available for sale at all Woolworths stores in the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria.
The recalled packs have a best before date of November 2, 2024, so please check the boxes in your freezer if you purchased one recently.
According to Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ), the recall has been issued due to the presence of metal in the ice cream sandwiches.
‘Food products containing metal may cause illness/injury if consumed,’ the recall notice said.
If you have the affected product, please do not consume it and return it to your nearest Woolworths for a full refund.
But that’s not all, because a dessert topping is also being recalled by a retailer due to the presence of an undeclared allergen.
The affected product is Hershey’s Syrup Indulgent in Caramel flavour, and it’s being recalled by Stuart Alexander and Co PL due to the presence of milk.
