It can be easy to take certain products for granted, but the reality is that it pays to be vigilant when it comes to potential safety risks in our homes.
That’s why we’re writing about an urgent recall from Product Safety Australia (PSA).
PSA has issued a recall of two LG Electronics 86-inch smart TV models due to a serious defect that could result in 'serious injuries or death'.
The TVs, sold with stands, were available for purchase between April 21, 2022, and December 19, 2022. The models are 86UQ9000PSD and 86NANO75SQA.
The warning was made due to a potential risk that the stand could crack and tip over if the stand is not properly installed with all six screws, which are provided upon purchase, or if the wrong screws are used and/or not properly tightened per the installation instructions.
Tip-overs can cause serious injury or even death and are particularly common in households with young children, grandchildren and animals.
The stands affected in the recall were sold at Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, JB Hi-Fi, Bing Lee, Betta stores, Narta stores, and the LG Online store.
If you’ve purchased one of these TVs, Product Safety Australia has urged consumers to contact LG Electronics Australia at 1800 643 156 for further assistance.
If an installation issue is identified, a replacement TV stand will be provided at no extra cost.
You can find out more information at the Product Safety Australia website or via the alert statement here.
On a more positive note, wall-mounted TVs are not included in the recall and can continue to be used safely.
It pays to stay up-to-date on product recalls as they may just save your life. We don’t want anyone getting injured due to a defective product.
Please share this article with your friends and family so that everyone has the chance to get their TVs checked and be safe.
