What better way to do that than with a glass of exquisite wine that doesn't break the bank?

A supermarket giant curated a selection of wines that promise to elevate your winter evenings without the hefty price tag.

ALDI's 2024 winter wine collection features six 'top shelf' wines under $16—ensuring that sophistication and savings can go hand in hand.

The winter season is synonymous with hearty meals and robust flavours, and a well-chosen bottle of wine can transform a simple dinner into a gourmet experience.

ALDI's Buying Director, Jason Bowyer, handpicked the range catering to diverse palates and occasions.

Whether you're hosting a dinner party, having a quiet movie night, or simply indulging in solitude at home, this collection has wine for you.

Let's uncork the details of these six winter wonders:

The Standing People Lighter in Alcohol Pinot Noir 2023 ($11.99)

This local Pinot Noir is a testament to the growing trend of lower-alcohol wines.

It doesn't skimp on flavour, offering a fresh and fruity profile perfect for those who enjoy a lighter touch to their reds.

Pair it with a creamy Emporium Selection Crumbed Camembert With Cranberry Dip for a delightful contrast.

Les Argelieres Pay's DOC Pinot Noir 2022 ($11.99)

Venture to the cooler mountain sites of France with this rich Pinot Noir.

Its raspberry and dark cherry notes make it a steal at this price point.

Complement its richness with the velvety texture of Emporium Selection Ash Brie.

Truly Wildly McLaren Vale Nero D'Avola 2022 ($13.99)

A berry-forward red that's bound to be a crowd-pleaser, this South Australian gem is a must-try.

The Specially Selected French L'ovale Cheese will match the wine's boldness with its distinct flavour.

Nerissimo Puglia Primitivo 2022 ($11.99)

Discover the hidden depths of this Italian red, celebrated for its blackberry and dark chocolate notes.

It's a wine that invites exploration and pairs beautifully with the tangy Emporium Selection Goat's Cheese Original.

Corte Carista Montepulciano D’Abruzzo DOC 2020 ($11.99)

Crafted by renowned winemaker Alberto Antonini, this ruby-red wine is a testament to quality without the cost.

Its robust flavour profile is an excellent match for the mature Emporium Selection Aged Cheddar.

Mount Langi Ghiran 'Pepper Series' Shiraz 2022 ($15.99)

Exclusive to ALDI, this Shiraz is a representation of the Grampian wine region's finest.

With its inclusion in Langton's Classification of Australian Wine, it's a premium choice without the premium price.

Pair it with Emporium Selection Smooth Blue for a genuinely luxurious experience.

As the cost of living continues to be a concern for many, ALDI's commitment to affordability is more important than ever.

Bowyer's selection reflects a keen understanding of the wine lover's desire for variety and value.

These wines are not just beverages; they're an invitation to create moments of joy and connection during the colder months.

Their winter wine collection reminds us that quality doesn't have to be compromised for the sake of the economy.

It's time to stock your wine racks and prepare to toast to the winter season. Cheers!

I remain flabbergasted by the stupidity of wine salesmen in promoting wines. In their sales talk about wines they list all the subtle characters and nuances of the wines (almost all of which are way over the top and irrelevant to the wine-drinking populace) and THEN they promote pairing the wine with a cheese such as a blue vein. Have these people ever eaten blue vein cheese and then tried to elicit the subtle characters of the wine?? I very much doubt it !! Their comments likely comes from some publication that is equally ignorant of the fact that the blue vein cheese effectively masks all the character of a good wine. The same goes for other strongly flavoured cheeses.
