After three years of tireless efforts by Sydney Marathon organisers to join the Abbott World Marathon Majors, their dream has finally become a reality. With the marathon's participation numbers already skyrocketing by 400 per cent since 2022, from 5,000 entries to a staggering 25,000 in 2024, the city is on track to welcome 33,300 participants in August next year and an anticipated 37,800 runners by 2027.
