Unlock the secret this shopper discovered to save $180 at Woolworths

In the world of savvy shopping, there's nothing quite as satisfying as snagging a bargain that slashes your grocery bill significantly.

For those who are always on the lookout for ways to stretch their dollars further, the story of Amelia, a mum of two, will be particularly inspiring.

Amelia recently turned her usual grocery run into a treasure hunt at her local Woolworths and walked away with a trolley brimming with $198 worth of groceries for a mere $19.50.

That's right, folks—she saved a whopping $180! How did she manage this feat? By noticing a simple pattern in the store's markdown schedule.

Timing can be everything when it comes to discounts, and Amelia's story is a testament to that.

She observed that staff at her Woolworths store tended to reduce items at specific times, particularly around 4:30 pm on Sundays.

Amelia capitalised on discounts that most shoppers would miss by aligning her shopping trips with this markdown schedule.

‘I would normally duck into Woolies after work to grab a few things and noticed there were reduced items in two areas of the shop—near the berries and in a fridge at the back,’ Amelia shared.

‘I noticed a pattern so I went in a bit earlier each day and I got lucky that day.’

The discounts Amelia found were not just a few cents off here and there; some items were marked down by more than 90 per cent!

Among her haul were one-kilo packs of BBQ sausages, 500-gram packs of sausages, Kafta burger patties, chunky beef pies, fish slider kits, and even a bag of potatoes and sesame bagel 4-packs—all at a fraction of their original price.

With the rising cost of living and grocery prices soaring, finding ways to cut costs without compromising on quality or quantity is more important than ever.

Amelia's strategy of stocking up on discounted items that are close to their best-before date and freezing them is a practical approach to managing a tight budget.

'My kids kill my pocket with their fruit bill and the price of meat, especially halal meat, is outrageous these days. This massively reduced my grocery shop for the week,' Amelia explained.

Her success story quickly spread on social media, where she shared her excitement and received a wave of positive responses from other shoppers who were impressed by her savings.

One person commented, ‘Omg, now that’s a stash!’ Another comment added, ‘I wish my Woolies had specials like this.’

So, what's the secret to securing such huge savings? While there's no guaranteed formula, being observant and learning the markdown patterns of your local store can certainly help.

A Woolworths spokesperson has stated, ‘In terms of specific markdowns on products in-store, we use them from time to time to minimise food waste,’ the spokesperson said.

‘The availability of markdowns will vary from day to day and store to store based on stock levels and demand,’ he added.

we have a simple way of saving money at Woolworths ..
we don’t shop there .. don’t spend any money at Woolworths prices are ridiculous and customer service is a disgrace .

I have bought chicken garlic kievs from woolworths deli @ $1.50ea. Was told they cannot be frozen. I froze them without any adverse consequences. As long as you freeze ASAP the cold products will be OK to consume after their ‘use by’ dates. However it’s a decision only you can make for yourself. .
