Unlock secret to effortless cooking with this partnership between two companies

Cooking at home can be a delightful and rewarding experience, but let's face it, sometimes the prep work can be a hassle, especially for those of us who have been doing it for decades.

McKenzie’s Foods, a trusted name in Australian pantries for years, is now partnering with Tetra Pak to bring a new level of convenience to home cooks nationwide.

McKenzie’s Foods has long been the go-to brand for dried pulses, but they've recognised that not everyone has the time or inclination to pre-soak beans before cooking.

That's why they've introduced a range of high-quality, pre-cooked pulses ready to serve right out of the package.

This new lineup includes Cannellini Beans, Chickpeas, Lentils, Red Kidney Beans, and a Three-Bean Mix—all staples in a healthy diet and beloved by chefs and home cooks alike.

‘These pre-cooked pulses provide consumers with a more convenient and efficient cooking experience,’ McKenzie’s Foods said.

‘The practicality of Tetra Recart® is unmatched for McKenzie’s wet pulses, offering a packaging solution that is easy to open and store and is optimised to ensure food stays fresher for longer, helping to reduce food wastage without the need for added preservatives.’

McKenzie’s Foods Marketing & Innovation Manager Micaela McGee emphasised the company's commitment to eco-conscious packaging.

‘Offering consumers a pre-cooked option for pulses has been a goal of ours for some time, and part of this process included searching for suitable eco-conscious packaging.’ McGee said.

‘Tetra Recart is the perfect solution – we’re thrilled to offer a delicious, ready-to-eat product that caters to the needs of eco-conscious and convenience-seeking Australians.’

This new range provides exceptional convenience and comes in more sustainable and user-friendly packaging compared to cans, allowing consumers to make an environmentally conscious choice without sacrificing ease of use.

‘The packaging solution not only provides greater convenience but also has the lowest CO2 footprint on the market in Australia and New Zealand,’ Tetra Pak said.

It's a more sustainable and user-friendly option than traditional cans, and it doesn't force consumers to choose between convenience and environmental responsibility.

‘Tetra Recart packaging has up to six times less climate impact than cans when comparing the lifecycle of the two packaging options.’ Tetra Pak added.

‘It is 60 per cent lighter, occupies 30 per cent less shelf space, and reduces transport space by 20 per cent, reducing carbon emissions,’

Giancarlos Larocca, Tetra Pak Oceania Marketing Director, shared the excitement of partnering with an iconic Australian brand like McKenzie’s.

‘Supporting food and beverage brands, like McKenzie’s, as they transition to innovative and sustainable packaging solutions is [a] fundamental part of addressing challenges across food systems.’ he continued.

‘This is something our team is innately passionate about as we work to make food safe and available around the world,’

For our members who are always looking for ways to simplify their cooking routine without compromising on quality or environmental values, McKenzie’s new range in Tetra Recart® is a welcome addition.

These pre-cooked pulses, priced at a reasonable RRP of $2.20 per unit, are available nationally at Woolworths stores.

I buy a 1 kg bag of mckenzies dry chick peas they last for months. Just soak whatever amount you want to use in boiling hot kettle water for a few hours or overnight, be careful they do expand so make sure your containers big enough. Then rinse thoroughly in cold water and they are ready to use. Much cheaper doing it this way and lovely dry pan roasted as a snack and cholesterol lowering also.😊
