Happenings with other food manufacturers too. Pringles shrunk the size of there products. Arnott put plastic dividers in their Tim Tam packaging. Keeping the Tim Tams apart leaves the packet the same size but increases the packaging to product ratio.
If only you could eat the packaging! What to do? Stick to fresh foods you can weigh, read the packaging and check the weight and be diligent.

We rarely eat take away but my hubby likes to have a treat every now and again.

Well also noticed the massive downsizing with McDonalds - we rarely buy it but hubby had a craving and we got one of the meal deals thinking it would be enough for both of us - that was a joke, not to mention the lack of ingredients, especially lettuce. Hungry Jacks was no different - they have down-sized their products as well. If he wants a burger next time we will go to the local take away shop - at least you are getting value for their rather expensive burger.

KFC is just plain disgusting - we got our order - it was dry and over cooked - thought OK just a one off thing - months later we tried it again and same thing - dry and over cooked.

So you are getting a lot less for your inflated cost.

Society should get over considering such food as a “treat”. Sugar filled carbohydrates such as the bun is not good. The sauces and spreads are sugar laden. The meat is fried in oils that are questionable.

Steiner - Only reason we classify it as a rare treat is because it is something we normally don't eat for the reasons you mentioned - full of sugar, salt and who knows what else. It plays havoc with his system but sometimes and that is rarely he wants something outside of his strictly controlled lifestyle and food options (cancer patient on chemo, with other health complications). I have been eating Macca's since they first came to WA and they most certainly are small and do not taste the same either. Just like HJ's. Wish they would bring back the originals.

Because of this, McDonald's had to admit that it had changed the buns on its cheeseburgers as part of its innovation and investment efforts.

Later on, the fast food company released a statement confirming that the overall weight of their burgers remains unchanged. There has, according to Macca’s, been very little change in the proportions of the new bun, and it still weighs the same.

'We haven't changed the size of our beef patty since the first McDonald's restaurant opened in Australia in 1971. We still use 100 per cent Aussie beef patties that our customers know and love.'

I had a macca's cheese burger some months ago, being disappointed in the size was the start but I accidently dropped it and to my surprise it literally bounced....talk about rubbish, it was tiny, tasteless, bland and had a slice of plastic cheese (not even decent cheese) and a thing they called a beef patty which I bet was not beef, it was rubbery and tasteless.
Someone said they bought a Hungry Jacks that was tiny, I have to say the ad's on TV are correct, the Burgers are Better at Hungry Jacks, A couple of months I stopped there with my wife and ordered what I thought would be a reasonable size burger for lunch, I really struggled to eat this thing it was that big and packed with what looked the same as on the picture up on the wall. I have once had a burger from Hungry Jacks I did not like, it was a hungry Jacks I had never been to before and I just don't go back, if you get decent staff they will tell you how big a burger is so you can order the right one.

even the actors in the Maccas add hold the buns right at the very back when taking a bite so it looks as though there is a huge roll in front of their hands.

I had a friend some years bought a Big mac, unwrapped it at the counter and held it up to the photo in the add. He looked at the photo, pointed to the burger and said, this looks nothing like that one, that's what I ordered, not this dried up little thing, he was there for about three hours until he got the burger in the picture, people cheered him when he walked out....LOL.

McD's is outright manipulating the public! The burgers are getting way smaller. The ingredients may be the same but are not made to the original size. Once a Big Mac was so big you couldn't get your mouth around it. Not so now. A McChicken had a much bigger bun with a bigger patty. Now it's the same size bun as a Big Mac bun, if that. Not only is the size of everything, including the half-filled chips and the empty centre icecream cones, but the prices are getting higher just about every time you go. Once it was a cheap, quick meal. Now, even KFC is cheaper and better sized.

If more people behaved like your friend I'm sure the quality of the burgers would go up. If I'm being shown via picture what I'm ordering then I expect the finished product to at least be a close relation of the one pictured.

I seems MacDonalds may be lying to its customers and are putting profit ahead of being fair to the customer. Its not the only organisation that has cut the size of their products through stealth and lying about it, It seems most customers are taking Australians for mugs, even when theres evidence. I believe all fast food should have a health tax as they are unhelathy and are the main cause of obesity in Australia,
