Unexpected twist in Ash Barty's baby news leaves Sunrise hosts in total shock: ‘What on Earth?’

Here at the Seniors Discount Club, we love to celebrate the younger generation making their mark on the world.

Today, we've got some fantastic news to share about one impressive trailblazer: Ash Barty, the Aussie tennis legend. We've witnessed her journey to tennis greatness, and now we get to be a part of her joy as she enters the world of motherhood!

Last week, Ash took to her social media channels to announce the arrival of her little bundle of joy. She and her husband, Garry Kissick, proudly welcomed a baby boy into their lives on a wonderful Monday night. Everyone couldn't be happier for them!

'Our beautiful boy. Welcome to the world, Hayden!' Barty shared the exciting news on Instagram.

As the news spread on social media, the lively Sunrise hosts—Nat Barr, Matt Shirvington, and Edwina Bartholomew—couldn't help but react with amusement when they stumbled upon a delightful surprise in Ash Barty's baby announcement.

And what was this unexpected detail that caught their attention, you might wonder? Well, the sheer simplicity of the name left the hosts baffled and scratching their heads.

'There's something wrong there. It's a normal name,' said a bewildered Nat Barr. 'Like, what on Earth?' she added.

The hosts were expecting something a bit more unconventional or perhaps a name with a touch of celebrity eccentricity. They probably thought it was like a breath of fresh air amidst a world filled with extravagant and over-the-top baby names!

Nat later added, 'We're shocked.'

Shirvington had a more level-headed response, saying: 'Ash is a normal person. They're a down-to-earth couple; it makes perfect sense.'

This wasn't the first time she left the morning show stunned.

In her previous appearance, the 27-year-old retired three-time Grand Slam winner was asked about the gender of her baby. Everyone was probably expecting a heart-warming or revealing response, but Ash Barty's answer caught everyone off guard.

With a calm demeanour, she simply replied, 'No,' keeping her baby's gender under wraps.

Barty retired from tennis in March last year, shortly after ending Australia's 44-year singles title drought in Melbourne. Since retiring, she tied the knot with Kissick in a secret tropical wedding, released her autobiography, and even created a children's book series inspired by her niece.

The topic of her potential comeback to the tennis court has come up in several interviews since her retirement announcement. However, Barty responded without hesitation, firmly stating, 'No...plain and simple. I'm very excited to spend some time with our family.'

She happily reaffirmed her satisfaction with her tennis career, making it clear that she had absolutely no regrets. She shared she's eagerly looking forward to embracing new adventures and experiences on the horizon.

Not at all, most people seeing Ash's approach to life would know she would choose a sensible name.

Oh for goodness sake. The Sunrise team were not stunned, shocked or bewildered at all. They weren't even commenting on the choice of name from Ash Barty. They were poking fun at celebrities who name their kids after compass points (North West! Kardashian clan), geographical features (Lyra Antarctica Sheeran) fruit (Apple Paltrow) weather events (Stormi another Kardashian) or other equally ridiculous choices they foister on their kids (e.g. Jamie Olivers kids are: Poppy Honey Rosie, Daisy Boo Pamela, Buddy Bear, and Petal Blossom Rainbow) And there are worse still.

But perhaps this went over the head of the author of this purile article or perhaps the author didn't even see the announcement and took this from other perpetually outraged commentators.

They obviously don’t have anything to write about - so make mountains out of molehills!,
Rubbish journalism!

My humble opinion - give your child a name they can live with, without being made fun of all through life, especially during early years in school when they could be made fun of or bullied.

Congratulations Ash and Garry on the birth of your baby boy.

No surprise here as it was not me who had to make a name choice or anyone else's for that matter, why dont people just cherish the moment of their joy at being parents who have a healthy baby BOY. lets hope that all the vaccinations being forced upon him dont change him like they did to my grandson who ended up as a "Non verbal autistic"... yes thats what these vaccination do to children whose immune system is not fully developed

Gorgeous baby and name. Boys are stuck with their surname, whereas girl's surnames get changed if they marry.
New parents these days probably don't care.

what? OMG what's wrong with them? Who are they to say what she should or should not be calling her child. Actually shame on them for being so public about their personal opinion.
It was a light hearted dig at other celebrities calling their children strange names. They were joking, there was no judgement, just a giggle and a warm welcome to little Hayden.
I'm sure Ash and Gary would have got the joke...even if you didn't.

excuse me? Now who's in judgement of a response? We all think differently and have a right to express without being judged for that . I didn't expect this from anyone on this forum.
