Undeclared allergen triggers recall for prawn dumpling brand

Food allergies and intolerances can be particularly troublesome, and for those with sensitivities, consuming the wrong thing can lead to serious health consequences.

That's why the latest recall from Woolworths supermarkets is something you should be aware of, especially if you have an allergy or intolerance to this allergen.

Food Standards Australia recently issued a recall notice for a popular snack item, Bibigo Mini Mandu Prawn Dumplings, in the 270g size.

The reason for the recall is the presence of an undeclared allergen—eggs.

‘Any consumers who have an egg allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed,’ the recall notice said.

The recall affected several batches of the product, with best-before dates spanning from the following dates:
  • 04/04/2024
  • 05/04/2024
  • 22/04/2024
  • 24/04/2024
  • 09/05/2024
  • 10/05/2024
  • 08/08/2024
  • 19/08/2024
  • 21/08/2024
  • 21/09/2024
These dates are important to check because they help determine whether the dumplings in your fridge or freezer are part of the recall.

The affected batches were sold in Woolworths stores across New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, and Western Australia.

If you've purchased these dumplings, and you or someone in your household has an egg allergy or intolerance, it's important to take this recall seriously.

‘Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice and should return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund,’ the recall notice said.

For more information on the recall, visit the Food Standards Australia website or contact CJ Nutracon PTY LTD, trading as CJ Foods Australia, at 02 8540 6331.

This recall comes after the Moringafi Green Juice powder in 270g packets was recalled due to the presence of Salmonella.

Food Standards Australia said foods contaminated with this bacteria may cause illness if consumed.

How ridiculous, most people can eat eggs with no trouble!
Vegans wouldn’t anyway!

Excuse my ignorance, but as a cook of many years, dumplings for any use were always made with eggs...so what's different now???
