According to the clever mum, also known by her handle social media @cyansocial, it all comes down to a simple trick: If you properly stretch and bunch a few of these lollies together, then open your hand, the snakes will appear to 'move' around as if they were alive.

'Before they go out into the market, they need to be stretched so that when you bunch a couple of them together and open up your hand, they move as if they are alive,' the mum explained.

Upon sharing the snake squishing trick on camera, she exclaimed, 'They do! Look!' As we watched the video of the tiny wiggling lollies, we couldn't help but be amazed at the incredible hidden detail we never knew about.

'I have been eating these for years and had no idea,' she admitted.

Fellow Aussies were eager to weigh in on this newfound knowledge. Responses have ranged from surprise and delight to utter disbelief. 'Mind blown,' said one. Another wrote: 'I had no idea.' A third user commented: 'Woah. Okay, that's bl**** awesome.'

Even Allen's Lollies' official social media account jumped into the conversation, adding a playful comment with two mischievous emojis. They cleverly avoided confirming or denying the intriguing random fact about the beloved treat.

However, the mum, fueled by curiosity, threw a delicious curveball: 'I'm game for trying new ranges, but I must know, how did the Killer pythons get their name?'

For our members who enjoy their sweets and have a flair for the whimsical, give this trick a try and see if any young ones in your family get spooked by the seemingly 'alive' creatures in your hands. It's sure to bring a giggle and a story to share with family and friends.

Remember to remind your grandchildren that while it's fun to play with the snakes, it's even more delightful to enjoy the flavoursome lollies when they've had their time squirming around in their hands. 😉

Key Takeaways

  • A little-known detail about Allen's Snakes Alive lollies has stunned shoppers.
  • The popular treats earned their name because they appear to 'move' when a simple trick is performed.
  • A mum demonstrated the trick on social media, squishing the lollies in her hand and then releasing her fingers to make the snakes 'come alive'.

The process of making Allen's Snakes Alive lollies has long been shrouded in mystery, with the secret behind their lifelike slithering only recently revealed. It turns out that the process begins long before the lollies hit the shelves - and it is a surprisingly laborious process.

The lollies start their life at Allen's factory in Australia, where the secret ingredients are blended and heated into a thick liquid before the addition of natural flavours. Each flavouring is added manually before the snake shape is moulded.

What makes the snakes come alive, however, is the fact that every single lolly is then hand-stretched while still hot in order to give them their unique lifelike curves. This process makes the lollies animated when bunched together and opened, with the snakes continuing to 'move' around in the hand after being stretched.

After these secret steps, the Snakes Alive lollies are carefully inspected, then packaged and sent off to stores around the country for all of us to eat.

It's no surprise that this surprising step is often missed by customers - and after experiencing it first-hand, it's easy to see why Allen's Snakes Alive keep us coming back for more.

It's funny how there can be hidden tales behind our favourite snacks, just waiting to be discovered! So, let's dig deeper and share the excitement. What do you think of this surprising revelation?

And do you happen to know any other fascinating 'secrets' about popular treats that are lurking beneath the surface? Don't keep them to yourself—join the discussion in the comments and enlighten us all!

Been doing that since I was a kid, showed my kids and grandson how to do it too. Great way to entertain the little ones for 5 minutes😁

I've got another one for you -- just as fascinating and sure to "blow Aussies away"! Tear off some Glad Wrap and bunch it up in your hand. Then release it on to a table, let's say, and the plastic wrap will, amazingly, spring back from its bunched-up appearance. Hours and hours of fun! If it doesn't, you can still while away an hour or two waiting for it. WHEE! So fun!

It's a very old trick, we used to do that when I was young and I'm 71 yrs old.

When I was a mite younger, we had a great time-wasting trick with a bottle of soft drink. Put the bottle in the freezer for a little while, then open it. If you've gauged the time correctly, you'll find that the liquid in the bottle turns into a million snowflake-type stars when you rip the cap off. Then you can sit down and count 'em. Much more satisfying than seeing lolly snakes floundering around.
