Ham is the favourite festive dish of Aussies. With the holidays fast approaching, demand for this cured meat is expected to increase. Unfortunately, a recent listeria contamination scare among ham products has resulted in the recalling of two popular ham varieties.
Knoll Consultants and Investments Pty Ltd has ordered a sweeping recall of Barossa Fine Foods Double Smoked Ham and Barossa Fine Foods No Added Nitrite Ham from Woolworths and IGA supermarkets across Australia on Monday.

The two sliced ham varieties are suspected of being contaminated with listeria — a bacteria that may cause fever, chills, muscle aches, nausea, and diarrhea when consumed.
“Food products contaminated with (listeria monocytogenes) may cause illness if consumed,” Food Standards Australia warned.
“Listeria may cause illness in pregnant women and their unborn babies, the elderly, and people with low immune systems.”
“Consumers should not eat this product. Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice and should return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund.”
The recalled products had been sold at various stores throughout NSW, South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland, and ACT.
To be specific, the No Added Nitrite Ham 100g, with a use-by date of November 3, 2021, was available for sale across NSW Woolworths stores, IGA stores in ACT, SA, and WA, and independent retailers in NSW, ACT, SA, and WA. Meanwhile, the Double Smoked Ham 100g, with a use-by date of November 10, 2021, was sold at IGA stores in NSW, ACT, Queensland, SA, and WA, Foodland stores in SA, and independent retailers in Victoria and ACT.
