Twin Tubs

My dear Nan always teases me about how appliances from her generation outlast even the most high-tech inventions today! Members, do you remember using these good ol’ twin tubs? They were space-efficient, durable, and certainly effective, weren’t they? If you still use these, we’d love to see a photo of yours here.

Haven’t used one since the mid 70’s. But was so much better than the old wringer washer!

I had one and it was so quick compared to when I replaced it with an auto top loader washing machine in those days.

I had one I hated it pain in the backside.

This was a God sent compared to the earlier one which I used to help my dear old mum after washing in the tub and then feeding it through the rollers to press out the water, you know the washing machine with the twin rollers on top, yeah that bloody thing……Rick 62

My MIL has one & refuses to use anything else!

I had one in the 70s 80s on the farm.We only had tank water so it was the only one to use minimal water. But i did hate it.It took me all day to do the washing on my only day off from work.

I recall twin tubs being noisy buggers when using the spin tub. It would wake up the whole neighbourhood!

No, but I nearly had my (long) hair caught a few times despite having it tied back 😳

Yes and hated the thing - it was easier to wash by hand!

They were really only good for the “spin”.
One or two items at a time. 😆
