TV host's shocking comment on Princess Catherine's post-cancer look sparks outrage

In a world where public figures are constantly scrutinised, comments about their appearances are not uncommon to make headlines.

However, when such remarks are directed at someone who has just returned to the public eye after a private battle with cancer, the backlash can be particularly intense.

This was the case for a TV presenter whose recent comment about the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, has ignited a firestorm of criticism.

The controversy began when Kaur, a former Big Brother contestant and regular commentator on shows like Good Morning Britain and Loose Women, took to social media to question why Kate appeared to have aged.

'Genuine question—why has Kate aged so much? Isn't she only 42? Is she a smoker? It's the only explanation,' Kaur wrote.

She reposted an article about the Princess of Wales attending the Remembrance Sunday commemorations at the Cenotaph.

The insensitivity of the remark did not go unnoticed. Social media users quickly defended the Princess, calling Kaur's comment 'dreadful' and 'disgusting.'

The backlash was swift and severe, with many pointing out that Kate had recently undergone cancer treatment, which could understandably affect her appearance.

Initially, Kaur doubled down on her statement, even when confronted with the fact of Kate's cancer treatment, comparing it to her own brother's experience with the disease.

However, as the backlash grew, Kaur posted a video where she admitted her tweet was 'stupid' and apologised if it offended.

She also highlighted the abuse she received in response, which included 'sexual, racist [and] violent' messages.

In the same video, Kaur made controversial remarks about Kate's privilege and the public's response to her original tweet, which she felt was influenced by her ethnicity.

She accused critics of pitting Kate against Meghan Markle and of trying to silence her voice because she is a brown woman.

The Princess of Wales, known for her grace and poise, has not publicly responded to Kaur's comments.

Instead, she has continued to carry out her royal duties with dignity.

During the Remembrance Sunday service, Kate was seen wearing a black, military-style jacket adorned with three poppies and a silver Queen's Dragoon Guards brooch, symbolising her role as the regiment's Colonel-in-Chief.

Her choice of attire, including pearl earrings, was noted for its respectful nod to tradition and the late Queen Elizabeth's preference for understated elegance on such occasions.

The incident with Kaur raises essential questions about the public discourse surrounding public figures' appearances, particularly women, and the boundaries of respectful commentary.

It also highlighted the challenges faced by those in the public eye who must navigate personal health struggles while fulfilling their public roles.

Um she can talk, how old is she for god's sake looks to me like 70 with those big black bags under her eyes, and she hasn't been through cancer treatment. I would be really careful commenting on peoples looks especially when you look like her.

grossly unwarranted. Disrespectful, derogatory with her reasons why, and then has the gaul to complain about the remarks about herself. Wow- what a nerve she has.
Ill health, lack of good sleep, and organs not functioning well, can give those looks, even babies and children can look like this when unwell. It can take a long time for changes to happen, years even for some.
Where is her compassion and integrity? She appears to be like a child who doesn't yet no better.

Ignoramus! I'm a recovering cancer patient and I can tell you that no matter how much you know a cancer patient, you really have no idea what they're going through, minute by minute, day by day, week by week....and no idea of the effects on their body and spirit.

It doesn't stop when your Treatment stops. In fact, it often gets worse afterwards. The effects can be devastating and last for years.

I had a treatable, local, common, throat cancer (non-smoker) which was successfully treated with Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy.

I'm still down 12+ kilos and my throat is still swollen. Taste and smell have only partially returned after 15+ weeks of recovery...and I'm extremely lucky.

So don't criticise what you can't possibly understand lady!

Kate and the King are both brave and strong beyond measure. They are amazing!

Another factor not considered in any of the comments is that people age differently. I once saw a person obviously younger than I was at the time, who had a badly wrinkled neck. I felt sorry for her & then she turned around & I saw it was my cousin!! & she was nearly 3 years younger than me.

I am one of the lucky ones with skin which has not aged greatly. Because of this, I have trouble getting aged care assistance as I keep getting told I don't look my age. Trouble is, my body knows how old it is.
Avoiding sun exposure is the most important thing to prevent wrinkles. I am 72 and have had cancer and am now on dialysis but I look a lot younger. With renal failure the skin often turns yellow but mine hasn't thank goodness. I've always worn a big hat in the sun and don't expose myself to too much sun. I think good skin is also in the genes as Mum didn't look old and she lived to 91! In general fair skinned and redhead people have worse solar damage unless they protect from the sun.

As other members have commented chemotherapy, radiation and other treatments all have an ageing effect on the body. And there is also the effect of stress and the uncertainty of your future while having treatment. Obviously this reporter has no idea what she is talking about.

Mikeyboy2012.....I wish you well for a complete and lasting full recovery, all the very best. Magpie1.😉

To be honest as soon ai I heard her I thought ty rhymed with something else? As she's certainly got a mouth like one. Also on the subject, While I certainly don't use it as an excuse as a current sufferer of cancer since 2010 the treatments can affect your appearance and the energy it takes to stand for any length of time. I'm also convinced that at a certain age they lose interest in your actual wellbeing as everytime I go into hospital they want to put me in DNR wards?

If I looked like her I'd have it covered as well, a definite two bagger? one for her and one for the mirror, poor bastard hear I mean the mirror.
I feel your comments are bordering on a bit nasty for me. My comment was look in the mirror, no need to get nasty.

I have heard her idiotic vapid remarks, as soon as she opens her Gob. She reminds me of a old Tommy Steele hit? " What a mouth, what a mouth, what a North and South blimey what a mouth she's got. As far as her being an actress she'd be good as a Drury Lane Whore. Also the first she thing she does when losing an argument is play the race victimisation card. She's the epitome of the argument against multiculturalism Always spouting off about happened in India a place she may have visited , but wasn't morn there, perhaps she should there and live there and use here ill gotten gains and help people she look down her nose at.
Not laughing at you; just having a chuckle at your first few sentences ..... :)
