Tricycle​

Who had a tricycle back in the day? It was our first taste of freedom, the feeling of the sun on our faces and the wind in our hair as we pedalled around the neighbourhood like mini explorers. It didn’t matter if it wasn’t brand new - it was a source of pride, joy, and envy for all our friends. Dads would scour garage sales and secondhand stores for the perfect tricycle and spend hours sanding it back and giving it a fresh coat of paint. Siblings would then take turns pedalling and hanging on for dear life as they zoomed down the street. Those were the good old days. Do you have fond memories of riding your trusty trike?

Mine was yellow and red. I lived at my grandmas and there no other kids to play with. So I would load up my dollies in the back seat and travel many miles (in the yard) and have many adventures.

I did and when I was 12 wanted a two wheeler ,but wasn't allowed one so never rode it again after that. But my sister and brother who were 6 and 7 years younger got one, I wasn't happy.

Just curious how your parents explained it to you (if they ever did)?

We were visiting my uncle's holiday home at Trigg and I was going to ride a trike down a big hill. My cousin insisted I get off and let her go first as it was their trike.
She started going down, flat out, and veered off the road to try and stop. When I saw her injuries from the gravel I was very glad that I'd given up my ride.

We had a Cyclops 3 wheeler like that , it served 3 kids who took it in turns to use without any fights. I kept it and my own children used it, but when my grand daughter came along she refused it saying it was too old and not modern enough, hers had plastic bits that broke and bits that went rusty and was left outside against the fence. Ours was put away every evening and even though it was old it was still in good condition 30 years later.

mum said to me, that dad said roads are to busy but it was ok for the other two. I was the one always left out. But now I am the one left caring for my mum.
