Enjoy a 75-minute steam train ride behind 122-year-old former NSW Government Railways Locomotive 3265. Don't miss this rare opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of steam as we travel from Penrith up the scenic Lower Blue Mountains and return. Travel in your choice of open saloon seating or a compartment for up to 6 people.

I remember those days fondly! My grandpa used to take me on steam train rides, and I'd be just like you—hanging out the window to feel the rush of air and see the world whiz by db fahrplanauskunft. The soot and smoke were part of the charm, though they did leave us a bit grimy. Your story about the wet washer reminds me of my mom always preparing a pack of wet wipes. It's amazing how something so simple can evoke such strong memories. Do you still have a love for trains today?

When I was an electrical apprentice I worked in a coal fired power station, when there was little work for me to do, I used to drive (under supervision) the shunting locomotive into town and collect the full coal wagons, and then return the wagons when they had been emptied. Good times.

For interstaters, In Sydney, I remember very well indeed catching the Steamer at Strathfield Rly Stn., which went up to Lithgow & then up to Mt. Victoria. When the steamer chugged up the "HILL, &, on reaching Valley Heights, a mass of passengers would get out to watch the "Double Hitch-Up" of the engines to complete the journey. Yes, the cinders weren't very good at all, especially if your eye caught one when you had your head stuck out the window.
