My mum used to make sandwiches for us to take to school or she dipped it in batter & served with veggies for our tea. Might look for it and try it again, haven't had it since then.

When coming home from boarding school I always knew mum would have all my favourite things stocked up for me.
Tom Piper Campie was a favourite lunch time meal, either crumbed and lightly fried or cam pie and homemade tomato relish sandwiches on brown bread….yum
Oh how I miss all the things mum did for me ❤️

We used to eat a lot of camp pie as kids, guess it was more affordable for poor families than fresh meat. I really liked it, used to buy it now and again just to remind me of my childhood. Haven’t seen it in the shops for many years.

I haven't seen it either, but I used to enjoy it on a sandwich with tomato sauce 😋

It was a blessing at the end of the week. Slices dipped in batter or egg and breadcrumbs then fried, in fat those days, and fed my family of 6 with vegies.

Talking about fried camppie reminds me, when I was pregnant with last daughter,vi had an appointment at the hospital so left the kids at home withe their father while I walked up there (30 minutes walk each way) . When I got home I asked him if he had had something to eat and fed the kids. Yes, he said, I fried us up some Strasbourg, what Strasbourg I asked, the roll in the fridge, scraping my head I went to the fridge to look, not knowing if he had bought it, returned to him and said, no Strasbourg in the fridge, that was the dog sausage. Killed myself laughing thinking, how could you be so stupid and not look before you eat 😂
