Tom lost his wife

Tom had lost his wife about a year ago

Curious (and a little concerned), the banker walked over and asked,
“Tom, is it true what I’ve been hearing? You’re getting married again?”
Tom grinned and said,
“Sure is! She’ll be 21 in November.”

Trying to be subtle, the banker thought maybe an 80-year-old couldn’t quite keep up with the energy of a 21-year-old.
He gently suggested,
“Tom, maybe you should consider hiring a ranch hand to help you out. You know, take a little pressure off.”

Tom nodded thoughtfully and said,
“That’s a good idea. I’ll look for one this afternoon.”

About four months later, the banker ran into Tom again in town.
“So,” he asked with a smile,
“How’s the new wife?”

Tom beamed,
“She’s doing great—she’s pregnant!”

The banker, feeling proud he’d given sound advice, followed up,
“And how’s the hired hand?”
Without missing a beat, Tom replied,
“She’s pregnant too!”
