North Sydney is preparing to come alive as the community gets ready to celebrate the NSW Seniors Festival 2025, embracing the theme Time to Shine!
Running from 3 to 16 March, the festival will feature a diverse lineup of events designed to honour older residents while fostering connections across generations.
North Sydney Council will host and support a range of activities at community centres and libraries, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy.
North Sydney Mayor Zoë Baker highlighted the significance of the festival, stating: ‘The festival celebrates the important role and contributions of older people in the North Sydney community.’
‘It also provides a forum for seniors to get in touch with local community centres and organisations, meet likeminded people, and make connections that will last all year round.’
From live music and poetry to tai chi and creative workshops, the festival will deliver a mix of entertainment, education, and social engagement.
Attendees can look forward to a morning tea at Neutral Bay Community Centre on 5 March, followed by The Swinging Sixties at Crows Nest Centre on 7 March.
Stanton Library will welcome guests to The Bard and the Harp later that afternoon, offering a cultural experience blending literature and music.
On 10 March, Seaborn, Broughton and Walford Foundation will host Scones, Jam & Cream – a variety show, bringing light-hearted entertainment to the festivities.
A garden party luncheon at Kirribilli Neighbourhood Centre on 12 March will provide a chance to socialise over a shared meal.
Grandparents and their grandkids can participate in a special playgroup session at North Sydney Community Centre on 13 March, encouraging intergenerational bonding.
The centre will also host a series of creative and educational workshops on 14 March, including Introduction to Drawing, Boost Your Media Literacy, and Creative Writing 101.
A variety of fitness taster classes, including tai chi and Zumba, will also be available for attendees to try.
The festival will wrap up with a Behind the Scenes tour of Northside Produce Market at Ted Mack Civic Park on 15 March.
