Three easy and budget-friendly tips to turn your bedroom into a 'cosy oasis'!

There's nothing quite like coming home to a cosy and inviting bedroom at the end of a long day. But if your bedroom doesn't quite fit that description, don't worry – we've got you covered.

We know how important it is for our SDC members to get a good night's sleep. After all, a rested body is a happy body!

Chantel Mila, popularly known as Mama Mila, is a cleaning and organisation expert on social media. Here, she has shared three of her favourite ways to bring 'inexpensive luxury' into your bedroom, so you can rest easy knowing your space is as stylish and comfortable as can be.

Recently, she took to her Instagram account to share her hacks for wrinkle-free sheets, putting on a doona easily and keeping your linen fresh – all without breaking the bank.

Check them out below!

Spritz Your Sheets with Water to Remove Wrinkles:

One way to make your bed feel fancier (and encourage you to want to spend more time in it) is to make sure your sheets are crisp – something that is usually associated with bedding from hotels. The good news is, you don't need to spend hours hunched over the iron attempting to smooth out every crease in your bed linens!

Her first tip is to spray a mist of tap water while tucking in your sheets to remove wrinkles without ironing - but how does it work?

It's pretty simple, really. Just spritz them with tap water in a spray bottle whenever you notice wrinkles starting to form. The water will effortlessly smooth them out without any extra effort on your part! How good is that, eh?

Use the 'Burrito Roll' Method When Putting on Your Doona Cover:

She also endorsed a 'burrito roll method' for putting on your doona cover perfectly, which we have no doubt will come in handy as we change from our heavier winter to lighter summer doonas.

This nifty little trick was designed specifically for those of us who have trouble putting duvet covers on by ourselves (which, let's be honest, is most of us!).

Here's how she does it:
  1. First, turn your doona cover inside out and lay it flat on the bed.
  2. Lay your doona on top of the doona cover.
  3. Then, roll the doona and the cover together starting from the head side of the bed until you reach the end of the bed. At this point, you should have a 'sausage' or 'burrito' made out of the duvet.
  4. Grab either end of the 'sausage' and, while holding the doona and the side of the cover closest to it, flip the other side of the cover outward and around the 'sausage'. The cover should now be on the right side of the roll.
  5. Do the same at the other end of the roll.
  6. Now, all that's left is to unroll the 'sausage' and your doona will be perfectly positioned inside the cover. It's that easy!

Finish off With Small Details:

Once you've sorted out your sheets and doona cover, it's time to move on to those small details that can make all difference in terms of how cosy and inviting your bedroom looks – and smells!

Throw cushions or an extra blanket at the foot or head of the bed always look lovely, as does spraying linen mist around generously before getting into bed – especially if you opt for one with calming lavender oil as Chantel does.

Simply mix 1 cup water + 1 tbsp witch hazel/rubbing alcohol/vodka + 20 drops of essential oil in a spray bottle, and voila – instant relaxation!
