Thousands of NAB customers 'thrown out' of their accounts after major outage

Thousands of National Australia Bank (NAB) customers were logged out of their bank accounts due to 'technical issues' affecting their internet and mobile services.

The trouble began around 4 pm on a Thursday, when users reported service disruptions in the outage tracking website, Downdetector.

The NAB received over 1,900 complaints within the first 30 minutes of the outage, signalling a significant disruption.

Customers could not access their funds, check account balances, or do personal or business-related transactions.

'Asking for a new version of online banking but won't work', one customer shared their frustration on social media.

Other users also speculated if the NAB's banking services had 'been hacked'.


The NAB responded to the outage and shared on their official channels that they were experiencing 'technical difficulties'.

'We're sorry for any inconvenience this is causing our customers. Our tech team is currently investigating and working to fix this as soon as possible,' an NAB spokesperson said.

The NAB's digital services resumed operations at 6:40 pm on Thursday.

However, many customers still feel uneasy about the bank's services.

The bank experienced a similar outage back in July, which locked users out of their accounts for several hours.

This incident serves as a reminder to have a backup plan when it comes to finances.


While digital banking services offer convenience, stay prepared for any unexpected outages.

All the more reason to keep cash transactions alive. The more people wake up to the fact that digital transacting is a means of control, and yes I realise there are times where it is convenient and the only option, however, we are being controlled and tracked by the banks.
 
There are always going to be outages for one reason or another so everyone needs to take advance counter measures for themselves in preparation so they are not caught off guard. There is absolutely no reason now to be caught short with the number of warnings we have had

Like the Bendigo Bank? Ever see a bank branch that closes for lunch from 1 pm to 2 pm? Don't have to worry about that anymore. The Dandenong branch is now closed for an eternal lunch as of May this year. Too bad the nearest branch is Berwick, a mere 12 kilometres away! HA HA HA!!!
 
This is why I do not trust digital technology. One glitch and you can be out of your account.

Odd that that sort of thing never happened before modern technology was loosed upon us for our convenience and insecurity.

We have a branch in Adelaide that closes from 1.30 to 2.30 for staff to have lunch etc. They don't have enough staff to keep it open. At least they don't shut it when the majority of workers are at lunch
