Step into this timeless Woolies outlet and experience a little '90s nostalgia.
Unlike most modern supermarkets, this Woolworths store in Scottsdale has resisted the spirit of change and, as such, is being described as a supermarket that takes customers 'back in time'.
But what's special about it? Well, it's not just the store's balconied window displays or the vintage red-white Woolworths sign.
The store has been untouched since the 90s, with old checkered floors, analogue vegetable scales, and other nostalgic features still on display.
And, despite the convenience and efficiency they offer, you won't find one self-serve checkout here.
One shopper shared a photo of the place on social media, writing, ‘Took a day trip to Scottsdale, Tasmania, like a step back in time. Not a self-serve in sight.’
The discovery of this 'retro' Woolies has left many shoppers stunned, with one woman asking, ‘Wow, is this photo from today's time?’
Others also shared their experience in the store. One said, ‘We were there last New Year, and yes, as an ex-employee, we were stunned at how “1995” the place was. Nice though, hope it doesn't change.’
'Oh wow! It's how I remember it as a kid in the early nineties with the triangular service lights,’ another remarked.
However, the lack of self-serve checkout counters sparked a small debate among internet users.
‘I really like self-service check-outs. I like to pack the way I want,’ one person shared.
‘How annoying. Standing in an unnecessary line when you could have scanned all your groceries and left the store,’ another stated.
On the other hand, there are shoppers who like that there are no self-serve in the store.

‘Good to see. The more we use registers with staff at them, the more shifts the staff get,’ someone commented.
According to a staff member of the Scottsdale store, the reason why there aren’t self-serve checkouts at the store stems from the customers' disinterest towards the service.
'I work there. None of our customers seem to want self-service. Being an older store, our service end that works fine was put on the back burner when our freezers needed replacing,' they shared.
Hence, customer satisfaction trumps technological advancement in this small store's list of priorities.
‘Having frozen food is more important than a pretty service area. There are many stores in Tasmania that don't have self-service and still function well,’ the staff continued.
