This woman's insane reaction during an Aussie storm is breaking the internet!

As the skies opened up and unleashed a torrent of rain and thunder upon Australia's south-east, causing flash flooding and leaving 200,000 homes without power, a scene unfolded that could only be described as quintessentially Australian.

Amid the chaos of nature's fury, a woman was captured on video, unperturbed, playing the pokies in a gaming venue as rainwater cascaded from the ceiling around her.

This unbelievable footage has since emerged as a symbol of Aussie resilience and nonchalance in adversity.

The short clip, now deleted by the uploader, showed the determined punter hitting a $128 jackpot and continuing her game despite the deluge turning the venue into an indoor waterfall.

'She's only a few slaps away from the feature; she can't leave now,' remarked the person filming, capturing the spirit of the moment.

But this scene is just a snapshot of the broader devastation wrought by the wild weather system gripping the region.

Tragically, the storms claimed the life of a man in his 80s when a tree fell on his vehicle in Cowra, Central West NSW.

The State Emergency Service (SES) has been inundated with calls, responding to over 1,800 incidents in 24 hours.

Power outages and electrical hazards have become widespread, affecting hundreds of thousands and leaving many in the dark.

The woman playing the pokies, seemingly oblivious to the storm, was one of many Australians caught in the severe weather that hit Sydney and wider New South Wales.

The forecast suggested that this is just the beginning. Meteorologists predict that severe thunderstorms will continue to batter the east coast, with significant rain expected from Queensland down to Victoria.

Weatherzone meteorologist Ben Domensino has warned of the potential for dangerous storms, particularly in northeast NSW and southeast Queensland.

A flood watch has been issued for multiple river catchments, with minor flooding a real possibility.

The unstable air mass, combined with an upper trough, has already left a trail of destruction, with damaging winds, large hailstones, and heavy rainfall affecting vast swathes of NSW.

The impact of the storms has been felt far and wide. Sydney Airport was forced to ground flights temporarily, with arriving flights diverted and departing aircraft returned to their gates.

Light rail services in the CBD stopped, and multiple train stations lost power, causing chaos for commuters.

Even the A-League Women's match between Sydney FC and Canberra United had to be abandoned due to a pitch blackout.

As residents brace for more wild weather, the resilience of Australians continues to shine through.

The woman at the pokies, undeterred by the storm, embodies a certain stoicism and humour often associated with the Australian spirit.

It's a reminder that a light-hearted approach can be a beacon of hope even in the darkest times.

Looking ahead, the forecast across the country remains tumultuous. Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide, Hobart, Perth, and Darwin are all set to experience a range of conditions, from showers and thunderstorms to sunny spells.

Sheep graziers are warned of potential losses due to cold temperatures, rain, and winds, and a hazardous surf warning is in place for parts of the NSW coast.

Speaking of Aussie resilience and nonchalance, I have a story. When the Newcastle earthquake struck, our neighbours were concerned about the husband's grandmother who was well into her 90s and still living alone in her own home.

The family piled into the car and made their way to her home in a suburb about 15km away. They found her sitting in her damaged kitchen, drinking a cup of tea. As the electricity was off, they asked her how she boiled the water. She informed them that she used a spirit stove that she always kept handy because you never know when you might need one.

1. Re the pokie player, you simply can't leave a winning situation, that's for sure.

2. Good on you, grandma. Show 'em how baby.

The machines are rigged anyway to make sure they get their share before you get anything.
lt's a mugs game .They put all their money in a the machine and then they are too scared to move incase someone goes on their machine and gets the jackpot. These people need serious help and the machines should be banned altogether.

Why is it that when people do something utterly stupid it's always referred to being Australian. A woman sitting in a potential electrocution hazard is beyond ridiculous as well as the possibility of being addicted to gambling is nothing to laugh at.
Absolutely love your honest & straight forward reply. She is an idiot for doing that.

This lady needs gamblers anonymous if she is unable to leave the machine in obviously a dangerous situation
