Do you remember the story when TV reporter Eddy Meyer’s car was towed because of a baffling parking sign?

We can all relate to the difficulty of comprehending instructions or signs in any kind of situation. But get a look at this curiously confusing road sign that drivers in Australia are scratching their heads over, and see if you can decipher it yourself.



Seen on the streets of Bathurst, in the Central Tablelands of Western New South Wales, this sign features a caravan symbol above an arrow that points both down and to the left.

The motorist who spotted the sign took a photo and posted it on social media. They said they felt confused when they spotted this puzzling sign.

'No other information near the sign, and no caravan park or other discernible amenity for campervans was down the street that I could see,' they wrote.




However, other users then stepped in to explain what the mysterious sign meant, with one commenter revealing the meaning of the symbol.

'(This is a) dump point, for pumping out the s**t,' they denoted. Another corroborated their statement saying: 'S**t pit that way'.

It turns out this symbolised a place where caravan owners can empty their waste. Not everyone has toilets installed in their vehicles, so these stops are incredibly useful and essential for travelling public.



But, these friendly facilities come with an important etiquette. As another online user pointed out on the post, travellers should clean up after themselves and refrain from dumping any garbage.

'These are good things, I have pulled up at too many wayside stops/picnic areas to find that [someone] has dumped their s**t under the picnic table or somewhere equally as disgusting,' they added.
