This groom’s wedding outfit choice gets everyone talking: ‘I hate that this is real’

When it comes to weddings, we've all heard the phrase 'something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue'.

But for one groom, it seems he took the adage to a whole new level, leaving guests wondering if 'something beige and baggy' was the latest trend in matrimonial fashion.

In a scene that has since gone viral on social media, a groom has caused quite a stir with his unconventional wedding attire.

The image, which found its way on social media, showcased the bride in a traditional white bridal gown adorned with lace details, standing beside her groom, who opted for a decidedly more casual ensemble.

The groom's choice? A matching two-piece beige set featuring a button-up collared short-sleeve shirt and baggy cargo pants.

Some social media users quipped that the outfit could be mistaken for a prison uniform. It was completed with a pair of white and blue sneakers.

This fashion statement quickly became the talk of the town, amassing over 500 'likes' and a flurry of comments, with many expressing their disbelief over the groom's selection.

One commenter, taken aback by the look, couldn't help but ask, 'This isn’t meant to be disrespectful at all, but is he an inmate? Just wondering how those types of weddings work, I am only asking because of the location and outfit of his.'

The bride, however, was not at all bothered by the query and responded humorously.

She revealed that her husband's outfit was actually a 'Snoop Dogg outfit' from the rapper's apparel line at Walmart.

'We used the cheapest possible (outfit), and he liked it...until he got dressed (for the wedding) and then he was like, “Oh s***”,' she explained.

The bride's lighthearted response seemed to amuse many, with one person noting, 'Seemingly not offended when asked if he’s in a prison outfit,' and another admitting, 'Oh, because my mind legitimately went straight to “prison wedding”.'

Another added, ‘At least the bride responded kindly because we know how that usually goes.’

Yet, not everyone was in stitches over the groom's choice.

Some questioned the decision to don a Snoop Dogg-inspired getup for such a momentous occasion.

‘Why would you wear a Snoop Dogg outfit in the first place?’ one said.

'I don’t know what’s worse—your fiancé showing up to your wedding as a felon or a Snoop Dogg cosplayer?' another person commented, highlighting the mixed reactions.

A third said, ‘I hate that this is real. I need a reason why this was the groom’s choice, but I know there isn’t one. To his credit, the bride did say he regretted it.’

A fourth chimed in, ‘If my fiancé shows up to our wedding dressed like this, I’m leaving.’

Interestingly, the groom wasn't the only one to catch the eye of the fashion police. Some guests took a playful jab at the bride's dress and even the marriage officiant's shoes.

‘The groom might actually be the best dressed of this bunch. [The] wedding dress looks...so dingy. Literally, everyone looks guilty of first or second-degree fashion murder,’ one joked.

Another said, ‘This whole thing is a mess.’

A third pointed out, ‘There is so much going on here. However, the bride seems so sweet in her response about the Snoop Dogg outfit and (clarifying that it’s) not prison clothes. And the marriage officiant’s shoes? Just so much to look at.’

Each to their own, if that is what he was happy wearing then so be it. I'm sure he discussed his choice of outfit with his wife to be and obviously she was okay with it or he wouldn't have been wearing it.

I thought more about this since replying before.
The premise that the wedding is all about the bride may well be ready for a complete re-vamp. Some grooms are into the preparations and then the day. So, they should be able to make decisions about their own outfits and that of the groomsmen.
I think the day would be even better if EVERYONE was happy with their choices.
Going back 44 years ago, my hubby got right into the arrangements, even helping us paint the wishbones silver and put the little ribbons on them. It was a load of fun having him involved. Actually, he helped make the arrangements easy peezy.
