Getting ‘famous’ on social media can be incredibly easy. You post a short video, and if the social media algorithm picks it up, you can become an overnight sensation with millions of views.
However, there's a flip side. Just as easily as you can get ‘famous’, you can also get ‘publicly shunned’ or ‘attacked’ for a controversial post. So, imagine posting something and, instead of becoming a star, you end up facing a ton of criticism or backlash.
That’s exactly what has happened to a ‘selfish’ dad who recently sparked outrage for refusing to sit with his family on a plane. His video became widely popular, but not in the way he likely hoped…
Kristine, a mother-of-two, who recently boarded a plane and made the shocking discovery after helping another mum with lugging her carry-on luggage and holding her newborn while juggling with her toddler.
It turns out that the other mum’s husband had scored himself a child-free flight, while his partner laboured away with the kids.
The woman took to social media to share the whole ordeal, and it was full of rage. She told her viewers how she offered her seat to the family so they could all be seated together.
But, when the dad got a whiff of an opportunity to fly child-free, he refused the switch.
The post got thousands of furious reactions from viewers, and there were plenty of comments supporting the woman's decision to call out the dad's rude behaviour.
'I'd be so mad,' one viewer wrote. While another said, 'I would have said no that's not what I meant give me my seat back.'
And there were plenty of other mums commenting how they had had similar experiences with their ex-husbands. Of course, some men were on the dad's side, saying 'If they switched, wouldn't the kid be alone?' and 'What if he were the stay-at-home dad and mum finally looked after the kids so he could have a break?'
In response to all the speculation, Kristine released a follow-up video.
She explained that she and the mum were seated in 7D, while the father was in 6C - a row in front of them.
Kristine said, 'All I know right now, is that this woman boarded the plane holding a baby with a toddler and carry-on luggage that she was struggling to get above her head and so, I helped her get it above and we sat down.'
'The only reasonable option in this situation was for him to say, 'No thank you, I'm actually sitting here with my other child. Thanks anyway.’
So, members, what do you think about this story? Would you have chosen a child-free flight and left your partner to deal with the kids back in the day? Tell us in the comments section below!
