This 'better for you' Aussie ice cream just landed a $2 million-dollar deal with Coles!

The world of food and beverages is always changing. New products are constantly being developed and released, while old favourites come in and out of style.
But one trend that seems to be here to stay is the rise of 'better for you' options – that is, healthier alternatives to traditional junk foods.
We're seeing it more and more often these days, with an increasing number of supermarkets stocking weight-loss shakes, low-sugar chocolate, and plant-based meats.
And now, we can add GYM BOD Ice Cream to that list!
GYM BOD is a high-protein ice cream made by Aussie duo Cian Dawson and Courtney Brown. The pair started their business in 2018 from their garage (talk about humble beginnings!), making their first batch of ice cream on a Commercial Grade soft serve machine imported from China.
They then moved to Sydney from Toowoomba the following year, selling their product around F45 gyms in an ice cream van. But it was when someone suggested putting the ice cream in tubs that the real magic happened.
During all of this, Cian was still working as a commercial analyst in IT for an infrastructure services company, and Courtney was still working as an asset manager for a defence contractor.
During lockdown, the two sold their ice cream for a while through their Shopify website, and customers all over Sydney had it delivered to their homes.
In March of 2021, however, the duo approached supermarket giant Coles with sales data in hand, and by November of that year, they had been allowed a trial in 70 shops throughout the country.
The deal went smoothly, and today you can find GYM BOD in almost every Coles freezer aisle across the nation!

'It's my dream to be able to run GYM BOD full time and to say goodbye to my day job,' Cian said.
'I would love to have more time to work on exciting new product launches and collaborations with dream brands. It's Courtney's dream for GYM BOD to have its own manufacturing facility, so we can do faster product development and be more agile with our approach.'
'We can't wait to see GYM BOD Ice Cream on every supermarket shelf around Australia and in major international markets,' he added.
According to Cian, the ice cream's mission is to provide consumers with Better Option Desserts (BOD) so that they may indulge in the treats without having to compromise their health.
There are three flavours available right now: Chocolate Pudding, Peanut Butter Salted Caramel, and Cookies & Cream, as well as other fitness products such as collagen sticks and protein poles.
