I have one of these and I love it. I've had mine for about two years and it cost $69 when I bought it. It makes life so much easier, the water is hot, pre-measured cup/mug size and you are only heating the amount of water you need. If mine broke today I'd be out buying a new one tomorrow!:D

Cannot live without it, mine was only $69.

I like these appliances, and I have an older friend who owns one. However, I won't have a cuppa at her place, as she doesn't clean it. 🤮
I politely decline.
How dirty does an appliance get that has a container which is filled with clean water and which heats the water as it dispenses it inot a cup? Are you saying that you scrub the inside of your kettle?

Yes, I clean my kettle on a regular basis. I own a Russell Hobbs brand and it's instructions say to use a couple of teaspoons of citric acid and fill the kettle to the max level and boil. I use McKenzie's brand as it's food safe. I clean my mother's kettle too.

All appliances have cleaning instructions. I think the issue is that people leave water constantly in the reservoir with these machines. 🤷‍♀️ I've never owed one, so not sure what the cleaning instructions would be.
The reason why I clean my kettle on a regular basis, is the build-up on the bottom, causes it to boil for a longer time. When cleaned, it's quicker to boil and more efficient.

That's important and having a coffee dispenser that looks similar when i used it i would clean it thoroughly as if i did not do so a mould could and would develop and imagine how unhealthy and gross that is... so i use my electric kettle for my cup of tea or sometimes my Turkish coffee maker when wanting a coffee for a change.

In the summer i use my Rena Ware coffee jug and fill it fairly high and use the coffee to make iced coffee with all the extras that make it delicious... icecream, whipped cream, frozen coffee ice cubes andbs sprinkle of cacoa on top.. its really delicious. But i will certainly see if i can get a instant hot water disp from KMart . 👍 I have seen a wall mounted one in a community hall that i have attended in the past.. maybe i will google to see who supplied those as it is really instantaneous and if turned off when unrequired would be highly economical. 😊

On another note i am fed up with my self correcting useless dictionary on my
iphone as it erroneously preempts what it's predictive but useless
algorythm thinks i intend .. which is why I've had to constantly edit any post I've ever intended to send.. 😫

Yes, it's happened again!!! Hmmmm maybe my finger is too large and that's what's happening

Yep ... your description is what my friend's machine looks like. I think she must have a cast-iron stomach, whereas I don't.
Your coffee recipes sounds delish! I've got a Turkish coffee pot too. I use my French press more often though. It's a nice change from a cup of tea.
ps. I dislike auto-correct as well. ;)

Wow, thank you for sharing this @Penny4! :D

Why is this a “must-have“ item? Every second product you promote seems to fall into that category. Nothing is “must have” except for the basics of life - shelter, food, clothing, and the means to pay for them.
Good feedback there, @Thecheesequeen! Thank you for sharing this with us! I'll be taking this on board :)This is definitely more of a 'want' than a 'must-have'!

Absolutely true ‘cheesequeen’! Why is it a ‘must-have? Tomorrow we’ll possibly hear from the same people or some others that they cannot afford this or that.

Is this gadget connected to the water supply? If not, then it still requires someone to ‘lift’ a cup or jug to fill it for heating. I definitely won’t be buying one if it is just a ‘must-have’.

As for cleaning electric kettles just put a quarter or half lemon in, fill with water and boil. That should do the job and if you have a lemon tree in your yard, no expense to buy them. You do have to boil and rinse out a couple of times after to get rid of the lemon smell & taste though. For those with hand issues I cannot recommend anything suitable but I guess you still have to fill this ‘must have’ KMart kettle somehow.

No, it is not connected to the water supply and yes, you have to fill a clear plastic container with water. If you scroll up to the two photos of the wateer dispenser you can see the water container clearly on the photo on the right.

Where this gadget excells is that instead of waiting for five or more minutes for your kettle to boil, you simply put water into the water container, press the on button and the machine instantly heats and dispenses water it draws from the container. There is a choice of temperatures and amount up to mug size. It may not be quite as convenient as a hot water dispenser that is built into the sink, but it's a great substitute at little cost.

I love my hot water dispenser and have retired the kettle.
