If you’re searching for a designer-inspired bag for summer but don’t want to spend a fortune, then you’ll be pleased to hear about the latest find from Kmart.
An Australian fashion blogger, known as 'Kmart Insider' on social media, recently discovered what she believes to be the 'perfect dupe' of luxury brand Loewe’s handwoven basket bag for just $22.
Yes, you read that right! Kmart’s stunning Bella Tote Bag is almost identical to the Spanish designer brand’s style but comes with one key difference: the Kmart bag is made from polyurethane, a plastic material.
Loewe’s Basket Bag is made from woven palm leaves and crafted from the Mediterranean coast of Morocco. The braiding technique used in the bag—called llata—originated from the region and is often used in baskets and bags.
According to their website, the Loewe bag has crafted calfskin top handles that can be adjusted and personalised with charms.
However, the luxury bag is priced at $910 a piece—a hefty amount for those who are struggling with the cost of living crisis.
Kmart’s dupe, on the other hand, only costs $22. And despite the differences, many were impressed with its 'incredibly chic' design, which comes in two colours—tan and white.
Many Kmart fans expressed their excitement on social media, with one saying: 'Wow! I thought it was a Loewe bag (for) a second. I need it.’
'So nice—love this,' wrote another.
A shopper commented: 'Don’t pay $910. Dupe for only $22.’
'So chic! Love it,' a fourth person remarked.
Kmart Insider’s discovery of the budget bag comes just weeks after shoppers noticed Kmart’s Maya Canvas Tote Bag—which only costs $20—looked similar to the $109.95 Marcs tote bag, sold exclusively at Myer and David Jones.
Similarly, other shoppers believed they had discovered an affordable alternative to French luxury label Chloé’s $1,700 tote bag with the budget find.
The three bags have similar features—including the natural-coloured canvas and the tan vertical details.
But they all come with very different price tags.
'I ran to Kmart to pick up the bag. How adorable is it? And for only $20, it’s an absolute steal,' one said.
'This is the latest drop of a designer dupe from Kmart—it’s a canvas tote bag, and it’s a dupe of a Marcs slash Chloe canvas bag,' said another.
'Love the bag, it feels really good too. It’s the perfect colour, and it was only $20. I feel it’s pretty detailed for Kmart, it’s just nice, it’s just a really nice bag,' said another.
Kmart shoppers were quick to jump at the chance to get their hands on the bag, with some urging shoppers to 'run' to their closest store after they noticed the bag was already sold out online.
