Type 2 diabetes is caused by obesity, physical inactivity and old age. This is hyperglycemia: too much sugar in the blood. Unlike type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes can be cured. It accounts for 90% of diabetes.
Only 5‰ of obese children develop diabetes before adulthood.
