We all know the feeling of sweeping and feeling like we're not making much progress. It's frustrating, and often, we just give up and leave the broom as is.
But did you know that there's a quick and easy fix for this? In fact, all you need is a rubber band!
No need to do a double take, folks! Jordan Peele, who runs the TikTok page @problemsolved, shared a simple hack to prolong the useability of your broom.

The tip provides a solution to the loose bristles of brooms that prevent users from sweeping the floor effectively.
So, how does the simple hack work?
Jordan explains: "All you need to do is use that elastic to hold all those bristles in place."
A rubber band can help hold those bristles in place so that they're close together and more effective at sweeping.
"That's all it takes, and you have firm, effective bristles!" he exclaims.

If your broom is wider, you might need multiple rubber bands, but that's no problem. You can just tie them together and attach a paper clip at each end.
Similar to the single-band attachment, all you need to do is tie the "rubber band chain" around the bristles and connect them using the paper clips.
Jordan says: "Now you've made a nifty latch you can secure around wider brooms."
"Suddenly, these brooms are going to work just like new!"
We love a good hack here at the SDC, and this one is sure to save you time and frustration the next time you go to sweep the floor.
The tip proved its popularity among TikTok users, where it garnered more than 650,000 views and over 250 comments.

However, not everyone was praising the tip, with some users pointing out that the rubberband might just slide off once you use the broom.
One comment read: "I feel like the rubberband would slide up as you use it."
Others suggest trimming the bristles of the broom instead.
One user suggested: "Fun fact: you're supposed to trim brooms."
"I just cut the loose ones," another claimed.
A third asked: "Aren't you supposed to just trim them?"
We're not sure about these suggestions as we have not tried any of them but we do think that cutting the loose ends might make the brooms work better for sweeping too!
