The secret trick nurses use to eliminate ear pain on flights: Try this and never suffer again

We all know how much of a hassle plane travel can be, especially for our members who may be returning home after a stint of travelling or visiting the kids and grandkids. Besides the inconvenience of airport security and limited legroom in economy, one of the most common complaints we hear is the ear pain passengers experience during flights.

Well, buckle up, because we’ve got some fantastic news for you! A clever nurse from the United Kingdom, Charlotte Stanley, has shared her simple trick to prevent your ears from hurting during flights. This method is so effective that once you try it, you might wonder how you ever flew without it.

'Aeroplane earache sucks! Earache in general sucks... I'm going to show you an earache hack in real-time,' stated the ear specialist in a video that has gone viral online, garnering over 865,000 views.

You see, during takeoff and landing, the air pressure changes rapidly within the aeroplane cabin, causing our ears to become blocked and painful. While common remedies include swallowing, yawning, or chewing gum to 'pop' your ears, Charlotte suggests something more unconventional – and it actually works!

Here's the trick: Simply ask your flight attendant for two plastic cups and hot, damp paper towels. Charlotte assures us that the cabin crew will know exactly what you're asking for. Place the warm paper towels at the bottom of the plastic cups and gently press the cups over your ears, creating an airtight seal.

Charlotte demonstrated this technique in her video, showing how 'hot steam' formed in the cups helps stabilise the pressure in the middle of the ear, easing discomfort. This method works wonders for adults and children alike, perfect for when you're travelling with the kids and grandkids.

Charlotte learnt this trade secret from an air hostess, who provided the materials and checked in on her mid-flight to ensure the method was working effectively. The best part? This trick also works for general earaches, not just those caused by air travel.

Hundreds of people have commented on the video, confirming the effectiveness of this method.

One grateful mum said, 'This absolutely works. A flight attendant taught us this when my six-year-old had an issue on a flight home many years ago.'

Another former flight attendant chimed in, exclaiming, 'Hot cups! Best invention ever.'

Another suggested: ‘Struggled with this my whole life. It makes me cry with pain. Decongestant capsules, yawning constantly and play music in headphones works.’

While one added: ‘I used to be in agony, I now just pop my ears at the start of the flight and again once throughout. I never get pressure build up now or any pain.’

While flying forty years ago, shortly after an ear op (stapedectomy) and experiencing odd ear symptoms, a flight attendant provided exactly this treatment. Worked beautifully.

When my daughter was little she had trouble on flights and a hostess told her to pinch her nose tightly and blow her cheeks out like a hamster, it worked and she still does it.

I burst an eardrum once, and ever since I've had huge problems equalising the pressure in that ear. The best thing I have found is special ear plugs called "Ear Planes". They are like a silicone spiral, and you gently twist them into your ears. You can leave them in for the whole flight, or just use them when taking off and landing. You get them from pharmacies and they work brilliantly.

My Ears have to flap quite vigorously during take off but once we get to cruising height they can slow the flapping down a bit. On landing I generally set them to cruise and brake So, yes do suffer from a bit of earache afterward...!!! Sorry but couldn't resist.
